How to deal with the heat?

It's been in triple digits the past few days and we're not exactly sure how to deal with the heat. We have AC in the house and have it on, but it still gets pretty warm in their room. They still sleep swaddled, but are so hot in the blanket, we found light weight blankets, but during the day they wake up wet from sweat. Yesterday they hardly napped because they were so upset (we also just switched formula...so they were a little gassy).

As far as sleeping, I'm wondering if we should try to wean them from the swaddle. I just feel bad that we can't keep them cool while they sleep.

Are they in pajamas too? Can you just swaddle them in diaper only?

If they still need the swaddle, I think swaddling in only a diaper is a good idea too. Just make sure they don't get too overheated.

They were in diaper only. They the issue with that is sometimes they escape the swaddle and then they get cold, I check on them and watch through the monitor and try to cover them at night. I just don't know when we stop with the swaddle, I know every baby is different, ours don't seem to settle down if they aren't swaddled, so I feel we should continue with it.

Maybe you could try it for a few nights to see if they get used to not having it? Either that, or could you swaddle just their legs so it isn't their whole body being wrapped up holding the heat?

What about using a fan in their room to help cool it down?

We used the fan today, I guess it worked out, today isn't as hot as yesterday in the house...we usually swaddle their arms and body and let their legs free so the heat can escape that way, we can try the other way and see how that goes.

We weaned ours off the swaddle at about 6 weeks or so. Mine were born in July in Las Vegas so I know about heat. When we did swaddle we did it in a onsie and then would just not wrap as tight for a while and wean them off and started wearing light pjs
