How the heck are you patient?

With my first, it was a surprise but my OB was great and saw me from week 4 on. Basically she was worried things were going ok so she monitored me until we saw the HB then she had me start month appts.

With the twins, the RE saw me until week 6 then I saw the OB at week 8.

I am not seeing my OB until week 10 (new ob, old one retired). How the heck am I supposed to just be patient and wait 5 weeks? Anyone want to teach me to meditate and be patient?

I had to wait until 8 weeks, I begged to be seen sooner to find out if it was twins again and was told by the idiot on the phone that they can't tell any earlier than 8 weeks anyway. I switched doctors. :p It was a looooong 8 weeks, I couldn't imagine waiting until 10! Uhhm... keep busy?

I'm considering calling my old OB and seeing if she found retirement boring. I think it is 10 weeks. They said June 9th which could be 9 or 10 weeks. It just seems forever away. I need something more than two positive HPTs to tell me I am pregnant. There is not enough technology involved so this doesn't seem right.

ETA: for anyone who is reading this and friends with me on FB, I am living in denial until this is confirmed by more advanced technology and until we make it to a safe gestational age. Please don't say anything on FB.

Patience is not my thing but I am so excited for you!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 weeks sounds like 5 years I know! But it will actually go by pretty quick (it would be nice if I could take my own advice LOL!). Just try to keep a positive mind and and busy! That is all I know!!

I am SO NOT patient!!! There is not one patient bone in my body!!!! I have paid for 2 ultrasounds out of pocket with this baby (dh has no idea I paid for them) because I can't wait and with my twins I had so many ultrasounds that I got spoiled. In the beginning is especially hard to wait and I would have come up with 10 million excuses why I needed to be seen lol!! My twins and this baby are IVF babies so I have been seen since the beginning but the first time they told me that my next appointment was in a month, I could not believe it!! I was never seen just once a month with the twins!!! UHG!!! So I am a bad one to ask about patience!

Yeah, I would do the same thing!!! No way could I wait 5 weeks - I would do anything to get in sooner!!!!!!!!!

The twins were ivf, this one is my birthday surprise. We weren't using any BC (we haven't in 6 years) and we were getting ready to do a round of IUI to see if it would work. My husband thinks it is great we saved some money. ;) I know they can't do anything right now because the HB doesn't show up until 6weeks. I just feel like there should be more doctor's appts after going through all I did with IVF. This seems too relaxed. I am not this relaxed.

Oh I know!!!!! I am not either!!!! That is the way I felt with this baby! They treat me like a normal pregnant person or something lol!! Hello, don't you know who i am?? I had a set of twins last time LOL!!! It matters to me but not to them LOL!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And what a wonderful birthday surprise!!!!!!!!

    LMFAO Thanks

And Heather, yes, that is exactly it. I had twins last time, don't they know I need more medical care than this? LOL. Maybe they give you 5 weeks for the "oh $h!t" we are going to be broker than broke" factor to sink in.

    Congratulations!!

I wish I had some words of advice on how to be patient but I don't! I had to wait six days until my first doc appt and I could barely wait that! I tried not to announce it either until I had an u/s ... but I did tell my TS buddy club and a few very close friends. :good:

I needed to get it out. I really am trying to wait for the u/s but if I don't tell someone, I will explode. I will use the Jedi Mind Trick now and no one will know what I said before ;)

I find myself not believe that there is only one. Like you guys said, I was spoiled by ultrasounds before and now my insurance has really cut down on ultrasounds. They'll only pay for the 8 week and a 20 week. I swear I can feel movement in two different places, how can there be only one in there?? I think my next appt I'm going to ask them to do some more hunting with that doppler, just in case.

I would probably be calling and asking for at least a beta or 3 to confirm rising numbers. None of mine were IVF so with the first I actually didn't get seen or find out it was twins until 10 weeks but this time luckily an RE was involved so I got my early US at 7 weeks. Even so, I POAS daily until I got my beta with a nice high number.

I feel the same way about the US! I actually had them do the NT scan, not because I was worried about Downs, but because it gave me a chance at 11-12 wks to see the baby

If your OB refuses to do a beta and P4, maybe your old RE would be willing. A little bloodwork never hurt anyone. Congrats!

I asked them to do blood work yesterday and they did. Now I need to wait for results. They seemed surprised I wanted blood work. I think there needs to be instructions on how to be a calm pregnant lady. They should just give you a handout when you walk in for your first appt that says what appts they do and don't do. I really miss my old OB. She was very compassionate and caring and took the time to make sure I was ok each appt.

The ones who were surprised you wanted blood work have never been a pregnant lady made to wait!!! They need to make an ultrasound app for our phones is what they need to do LOL!! Before I did this FET I kept telling myself how relaxed I would be and that I would just be so darn happy to be pregnant that I would be the calm pregnant lady. That has gone out the door and now I don't think there even is any such thing!! I am over the moon happy but there is nothing calm or patient about me! I am ready to put his car seat in my car - and have been for a long time!

LOL, I appreciate the sentiments. I really do. The bloodwork was good. 999 at 5 weeks. I am still not sharing until I go in 5 weeks because so much could happen. Thanks for being impatient with me ladies!
