How soon after you "drop" before cervix starts to open?

I had my 35 week appointment today, and the nurse made the comment that I had dropped considerably. How long typically after this does the cervix start to dilate if it hasn't already? I know everyone is different, but if anyone has any insight, I'd appreciate the feedback.

Can anyone tell I'm getting antsy and ready for things to start happening??? My doc won't schedule a c-section before 38 weeks unless I start to dilate. Uuggh!!! I know, we need to do what's best for the babies, but I can't help it. I'm at that point where I'm "READY" already!! Of course I don't want the doc to take the girls before it's safe for them to come out, but I'm sure many of you understand what I mean! :) I think our girls have my cervix on "lockdown"!! My DH made the mistake of saying, "at this rate you'll still be pregnant this time next year!" Not funny!

Hope everyone is having a great week. Thanks!

there is no time. Many people never "drop" so to speak. Everyone is different. SOme people go from being not dialted at all adn no effacement (like my friend). She had an appt where the doc told her nada....she went into labor that night.

I walked around at 90% effaced and 2 cm dialated for almost 4 weeks with ds.

Everyone is different. it all means nothing.

Sorry, with i could say you have 1 ekk and 2 days. I know how the end can be. Hang in there. you are doing so great!!

I gotta agree there's really no time frame.

My ds dropped once, I never dilated at all.

My dd dropped 3 times (the first one at 34 wks), still never dilated with her.

I start cervical checks next appt (28 wks), but I'm pretty sure even with 2 in there I won't dilate, my dd was 9 lbs 12 oz if she didn't get me dilating, nothing will!

I had people tell me that I had dropped (and it felt like they were going to fall out at any minute!)- I only had 2 internal checks, one at 35 weeks where they told me I was 1cm dialated and the last one at 37 weeks even where they told me I was completely closed  I just KNEW I had to be a 4 AT LEAST!!! If it were up to my cervix, I would STILL be pregnant with my girls! I had a scheduled c-section at 38 weeks 4 days!
