HOW RUDE!

So i am out for my once a week outing with my friend (who has trips).. We are walking around the mall.. and the onlookers were esp bad today because of xmas shopping...

anyways.. this lady stopped to talk to us.. and she said "OMG Triplets???" We both said ya... and then she said "OMG I WOULD KILL MYSELF!"
How rude is that? :shok: :aggressive: :vava: Really.. did you have to say it infront of us? Couldnt you have walked away and then said it to your friend?

The good come-back.. My friend said back to her with out even thinking...

"Ya i would kill myself if i were you too!"

Her face was :blink:


Then we walked away...

Kudos for a fast thinking reply. Just think, she must not have enjoyed her children. How sad! Congrats to your friend. I babysat a little guy 1 month older than my boys today, so I had the triplets test today. How entertaining.

 

I love people who can come up with THE thing to say in the moment!! That's SO cool !!

They are 9-10 months old.. They were born in Feb this year.. They are sooo cute! All boys.

i was walking w/ another twin mom (from this very board, as a matter of fact!) and someone said "you have two sets of twins?" Uh, no, duuh, we EACH have one! (Not rude but sort of silly to my mind)

 

yep- I have had that comment said to me too! Unbelievable! I just gave a fake smile. I wish I could have said what your friend said.

I probably would have made some really sicko snarky remark back to her - like "Oh, good idea, I really think two parents is too many. Kids are so spoiled, you know? So what do you think, should I shoot myself or jump off a building?" :girl_devil:

 

I may be in the minority here, but I don't take these kind of comments too personally or get upset. I don't think most people's comments aren't intended as rude. I'd guess this lady knows how hard one baby is, and just meant that she couldn't imagine how tought it would be with 2 or 3!!

That is the best way to be about it! My mom tells me that all the time! I think I just get so shocked and wonder where people come from sometimes. But you are right about why they say those things.

I tell myself this all the time when I hear ridiculous comments when I am out and about. I am not a quick thinker and at times I wish I was, but sometimes my feelings get hurt when people say things that can be misconstrued (sp?) as hurtful. But I also know that I think they are totally unintentional.
