I have a three year old son who's pregnancy was very easy went a week past due and was induced but besides that and the 75 pounds I put on it was easy.

Now I just found out I am pregnant with twin, the scared oh my gosh feeling has warn off and I'm very excited now but then I keep reading all kinds of stories about issues with twin pregnancy and now I'm scared again.

:welcome: to Twinstuff & :hi: Congratulations on your twins!

Pregnancy in itself can be risky. I had a great twin pregnancy & subsequent pregnancy. You've already done it once! Things will be different and you may have to go on bedrest and for sure keep it low key, I know, difficult with a toddler, but the one big thing that could go wrong is that you go into premature labor. Because you had a great first pregnancy, you have a good chance at a 'normal' twin pregnancy, one that doesn't have too many surprises. You will be monitored close throughout your pregnancy. Try not to stress and worry. Take it one day at a time and don't get anxious over it.

Reading the stories gives you information. Not all pregnancies are the same, even twin pregnancies. Use the information that you read as a awareness. It's great to be armed with information as you progress through your pregnancy. Information is useful tool. Preterm labor is definately what you don't want.

One piece of advice I have learned while reading this forum daily is, get lots of rest and drink lots of water seem to be a priority while being pregnanct with twins. So, try and do both.

Congratulations and try not to worry too much. Take one day at a time and enjoy this wonderous experience you've been blessed with.

Hi and welcome to Twinstuff! :welcome: Congrats on your twins!

Yes, a twins pregnancy can be risky. The thing is all pregnancies are different and you just don't know what will happen. You have to just do your very best to take care of yourself. You hope that having a successful pregnancy before will help with this one, but sometimes things just happen that are beyond your control.

It definitely depends on what type of twins. Moni/di sharing plcanetas is more risky than di/di.
Also its more common to get GD and pre-e with twins.

However, I have not had any problems at all and this pregnancy has gone exactly like when I was pregnant with my 6 yr old and I have even gained less weight! I do have di/di and had a full term pregnancy(39 weeks).
I also worked until 34 weeks full time and it didn't affect me negatively at all. I just rty to get sleep at night and I drink a lot of water and eat healthy.
Since you already have had one baby full term that takes away some risk also.

Other than my extremely swollen feet, lower legs, feeling more uncomfortable and huge, this pregnancy hasn't been much more difficult than my singleton. I haven't had any problems and it has been pretty uneventful. I am having di/di boy/girl twins I agree with pp, it depends on what type of twins your are carrying. Every pregnancy is different. I haven't had any problems with pre-term labor so far. Glad my babies are still cooking

kitkat I know exactly how you feel. The first couple of nights were really sleepless but I am starting to feel better now. I am 16 weeks with mono/di twins. The only thing that makes me feel better is going to each appt or u/s and hearing those hearts beating.
And I figure, those twins grew just fine within me for 15 weeks without me even knowing there were 2 in there, so now I no why should that suddenly change?
It will get better the further you get along, I promise.

I know how you feel, too! Ditto the advice of the previous posters. I'd also really recommend the book When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads by Dr. Barbara Luke, head of a large multiples clinic. She does a great job of explaining all the unique points of multiple pregnancies, and also gives helpful guidelines for nutrition, rest, exercise, work, etc.

I'm also having di-di twins and have had no problems so far. This is my first pregnancy. The big differences (besides getting bigger faster! ;) And my stamina's not great) are that I get extra monitoring (e.g. an ultrasound at every visit, and the frequency of visits increases sooner) and many OBs are more cautious with your labor and delivery options.
