how quickly can I make the switch?

I think with the twins I switched gradually over a week. This time I'm very low on formula and don't really want to buy a whole can again so it would be in a matter of 2-3 days...will this be a problem? Has anyone just switched cold turkey? Do they still like milk? If there is an allergic reaction how quickly will I see it? What are the symptoms of milk intolerance?
My twins were fine but switching more quickly I just want to be sure I know what to look out for. Collin has had some of the twins milk every now and then by accident when he gets a hold of their cups and downs whatever was inside so he's been exposed to milk without any issue. Thanks for the info in advance!

I have read that plenty have done it cold turkey. We did ounce for an ounce for a half of a bottle. Then I figured there was enough milk in each bottle that they would have had a reaction by now. GL.

I made the switch cold turkey and it worked fine for the twins. I wasn't switching to milk but to pediasure, and they drank it the same as they were their formula.

I would give it a try and see what happens. If he's not taking the milk you can always go buy another can of formula.

We ended up with some constipation issues when I switched really quickly so I had to back track a bit and spread it out. I started out half and half for a few days then went to a quarter milk and three quarters formula then slowly went back to half then more than half milk, etc. All in all it took maybe three weeks. Odds are good there are no allergies so I'd just be prepared with high fiber foods, some apple/prune juice, etc in the house to help things along while his body adjusts to the change.

If he's had small amounts of it here and there, I would just go cold turkey. I did with my older kids. I didn't with the twins because we were still having some milk issues. I can't believe he's a year already! :shok:

My older kids were all cold turkey, too. We had no problems doing it that way.

When you switched to milk was it in bottles or were they using sippies? Im curious how many oz. were they drinking by one? My Lo's are almost 11 mo and Im wondering what this switch is going to be like since its right around the corner.

LB....are your LO's eating more food and how many oz are they drinking?

Our pedi told me I could try cold turkey and if there were issues to back off to half. Both of the boys were already getting milk at lunch so I wasn't too concerned. Mason did fine with cold turkey. Logan had had milk issues in the past so I wasn't surprised that we had to back off and make a slower switch with him. I think we did it over 2 weeks increasing an ounce at a time. Good luck!
