I Will be 37 weeks tomorrow (!) and have a c-section scheduled for next week. Today my OB checked me and said I wasn't dilated at all and my cervix was still high - I was wondering if anyone went suddenly from not being dilated at all to full-blown labor and delivery within a few days. I still feel ok, like I can make it another week, but it would be kind of nice to go before January 4th. Just wondering if anyone went from no dilation to labor kind of quickly, since the only stories I ever hear are about women walking around for weeks at 3cm dilated...
    Thanks!

I don't have any good advice for you (I was induced with my ds and it took 24 hours to fully dilate!) but I am sure you're chomping at the bit!! to be so close...and yet so far away!! I hope you have a totally different experience than me, and those babies decide to come out on their own!

I had that happen with my first singleton son. i went in to the L/D at 6pm and within 45 minutes i was dialated to 4 1/2 centimeters. when i got there the nurse that i had was extremely rude and told me that i'd go home that night and i told her that i wasn't leaving until i had my baby. boy was she shocked when i asked for the other nurse to check me and she heard 4 1/2 centimeters. i had my son at 2:32am. so within 8 and a half hours i had my son, pretty fast for a first birth. but not as fast as my friend with her first daughter. she had no pain couldn't feel the contractions, water broke within 15 minutes of walking into the L/D room and had her singleton daughter within 25 minutes. so anything can happen.
    lots of love!

That happened with my singleton. I went from not being dilated that Thursday to going into full blown labor on Sunday.

With my twins though, I started to dilate at 28 weeks and had them at 34 weeks.

I went into to labour at 12am on Monday morning and went from not being dilated at all to 8am and 6cm dilated and then having them at 3pm! My pregnancy was near perfect and up to that point i had nothing wrong with me no dilation or b/h.So it can happen! Be ready lol. x
