My almost two year old still takes 1-2 bottles a day usually in the a.m. and one before bed.

Actually, mine were 11 1/2 months old. We did it the same time we stopped formula--that way it was a clean break--formula=bottles and milk=cups.

Like pp, mine were broke before a year. They were 11 and 11 1/2 months when we bottle broke. My DD was hard to break...but 2 days later, and we were bottle free. My DS took to it the first day. We did do the formula in sippys though, so they would have familar liquid inside and not rebell against the sippy so much with something new. HTH

The bottle was fully bye-bye a couple weeks after they turned 1.

I gave them their last bottles on their first bday in the evening. Then it was sippys from there on out. (This doesn't help you, does it?! [IMG] Sorry!)

FWIW, we're 12.5 months and haven't given it up yet, but I'm thinking around 14 months.

We gave them up almost completely at 1- but I remember giving them bottles of water at night until they were around 16 months-

We were pretty early to give up bottles. I introduced sippy cups at 6 months and had them completely off bottles at 10 months. They never knew the diffence.

They still had formula before bed and I think one other time during the day (just replaced the delivery!)

It was really easy because they were so familier with the sippy already.

    Good luck

We also gave them up at 1. We switched them to sippy cups and then straw cups.

I didn't vote b/c the twins gave up their bottles (REFUSED THEM) by about 10.5 mo. so they got switched to sippies. My oldest was right around the one year mark when she gave up bottle, maybe a few weeks before, but she still did a betime bottle until 14 mo. or so.

We started subsituting sippie cups for bottles at 9 mos old and by 12 months they took 3 sippies of milk and 1 of water.

I think it is easier the younger you start b/c they tend to get attached to them. Good luck

Mine are almost 15 months and still taking a bottle twice a day. I wouldn't worry about it, I don't think we are going to rush ours off it.

13 months here. They were losing interest in the bottles anyway, just sipping at them, throwing them, etc. So we switched to sippies one day and they've been fine.

At 15 months, mine are still taking a bottle in the morning (I know this one can be dropped but DH is the SAHP and he finds it easier to give it to them) and they also get one right before bed as part of our winding down routine.

We did both kids at the same time, because we tried alot sooner with Carter, but he would just steal Allyson's bottle, so it made it a changelle to drop them. Carter was 25 months & Allie was 13 months when we got rid of the bottles all together.

Don't feel bad...mine are almost 2 and still take a morning bottle with milk. Every time I tried to wean them off of the bottle something would happen like one would get sick and it was the only way they'd take liquids, or we'd be flying somewhere/traveling and I didn't want to make them switch. So, I still give them a full bottle of milk in the am. That way at least I know they drank a full 8oz of milk, otherwise they won"t drink any! I'm aiming for by 2 to be done with bottles completely...

At almost 22 months Elliot and Clarissa just dropped their bedtime bottle and now get one just before naptime. I really feel no need to force the issue - they drink milk out of sippies all day, and the bottles just seem to help relax them before sleeping. We just started sippies at bedtime 2 days ago and they don't mind, but they drink a lot less. The only reason I'm even working towards dropping them is that all our bottles are getting leaky - I think they need new nipples, which are "supposed" to be replaced every 3 months but have not been replaced ever - and I don't feel like buying new bottle stuff now. Maybe we'll go a week or two and see how nighttime goes and if all is well we can drop the naptime bottle too.

It was just after a year. When we moved to our new house I decided that I would not unpack bottles, it was sad [IMG]

All three of my kids gave it up at 12 months. It took some persistance for one, but they adjusted just fine. Hang in there...it will happen!

I didn't vote because you didn't go old enough to cover any of mine! Alyssa and Bryony gave up theirs at around 3 years 4 months old (they were having them morning and evening), Naomi and Luke still have 2 a day-one when they get up in the morning and one just before bed.

There was a similar thread to this quite recently here.

I did the same thing with both sets, transitioned to sippy cups around 11mths and bottles were gone by a year.

We used the cold turkey approach because the girls were not interested in sippies at all and hadn't been since we introduced them at 6 months old. It took 1 day for Ainsley to make the adjustment and about 3 days for Sierra. Of course, it's a little easier to break a 13 month old from a habit than a 2 year old. If you are ready to wean Kaylee from the bottle, the easiest one to replace would probably be the 2nd morning bottle. After about a week of that, you can get rid of the morning bottle. And then tackle the night bottle last. Good luck!

Most babies (not all) will continue to take a bottle as long as you give it to them...I never gave my kids the choice to "give it up", but instead I "took them away". At 1 or a little under.

I couldn't vote, cause my babies were off the bottles at like 7 months old. I know I am mean, but I can't stand bottles and they took to the cups ok, we had a rough couple of days and then we were fine!

What size bottles are you giving you twins. The small or big bottles. Mine have never been able to drink a large bottle, thus they do still take the bottle but mainly at bedtime or naptime. I know I must seem terrible to those wonder moms who got your kiddos off the bottle at 1 ... I am so impressed. Wish I knew a secret. But, also I have heard of many 3 yr. old kids still taking nightime bottles, and growing up to be very healthy and with no teeth problems...Need input on the bottle size and how you "wonder moms" did it so fast...As an instructor I am highly impressed with you!!! None of my 4 ever used a bottle breast to cup at one year of age for all four. That option wasnt in the poll!

10 months here, they weren't attached at all at that time. However shortly after they attached to the pacifiers. I think I pulled the plug on those right before age 2.

I think every transition was easier than I worried it would be. I have found that if I go cold turkey with a transition I have a rough 3 days tops. After that it is like it was never an issue.
