How old were your babies when they stopped needing a nap after 2 hours of wakeful time?

I am just wondering when others' babies stayed awake longer than 2 hours at a time?

Lately I feel like between their EBM/formula feedings, solids 2x's/day, 3 naps/day and regular baby care (diapers, clothing changes, etc.) - we don't have a lot of time for the fun stuff like playing on the floor, etc. I mean, we do all of the playing stuff but at this point it feels like by the time the other stuff gets done we have just a few minutes 15-30 or so, before they are ready for a nap again.

Our sleep schedule usually looks like this:

    7am - wake
    9am - nap 1 (approx. 1 hour)
    12pm - nap 2 (approx. 1-1.5 hours)
    2:30/3pm - nap 3 (approx. 40 mins)
    6:00 - bed time

Is this pretty typical for almost 6 month olds (if I do their adj. age, they were born 5 weeks early)?

    Thanks!

I don't know, but I would be interested in the answers you get!! My girls are about 5 & a half months adjusted & I'm wondering when they can stay awake longer than 2 hours too. So far it seems that they need a nap at 2 hours, but I'm not sure what to look for to signal that they don't.

Mine let me know when they were ready to go longer by not showing any tired cues at all and then rebelling a bit in the crib. So then I just moved it back 15 mins to 30 mins and went from there. I think at 6 months your sleep looks great. We were taking 3 naps a day and going to bed by 8 and then gradually getting to 7pm. FWIW the solids, all the bottles, the diapers, the clothing changes, take up tons of time towards the end of the first year. Once they start dropping naps and bottles you will have more time for the FUN stuff. :D

Mine needed to nap about every 2 hours until they were nearly 10 months old. They didn't drop a third nap until their 1st birthday and at almost 17 months old they still nap 2 times a day.

You know your babies best. If they are fighting falling asleep or playing in their cribs and not sleeping you might be able to keep them up a little longer. GL!

Mine started to stretch their awake time at about 7 months -- then by 9 months they were down to two naps (up at 8 am, naps at 10 &2)

Mine still do.. Is is our sched right now..
    7am wake
    9am nap
    1pm nap
    630-7pm bed

Making it from 1-630 or 7pm is the hardest thing to do.. They are soooo cranky!

Mine dropped the 3rd nap about a month ago...so when they were 7 months adjusted. Ben could probably still take 3 naps but Daniel just couldn't do it. He was not sleepy after 2 hours and if I did manage to get him to sleep, he'd wake after 30 minutes or so. So we started going about 2.5 hours between naps and now we go 3. Here's our sleep schedule.

    6am - wake
    9am - 10:30 am - 1st nap
    1:30 - 3:30 - 2nd nap
    6pm - bed

Mine dropped their 3rd nap about 1 1/2 months ago, so around 5 months. Here is our day:

    Wake: 6:30

    Nap: 9:00-10:00

    Nap: 12:30/1:00 until 3:30-4:00

    Bed: 6:30

Lately I have noticed that if I put them down for their a.m. nap after two hours, they just stay awake for at least 15-20 minutes before falling asleep. So I've been putting them down after 2 1/2 - 3 hours of wake time.

Try and watch for clues if they are tired. Josh was rubbing his eyes before 6:30 tonight and as soon as I put him in his crib he was out. Same thing with Jake for their afternoon nap. As soon as I see them get crabby, I know it's time.

Sounds like ours are close in age. My girls were born 12.31.08 at 35wks1dy. They range anywhere from 2-3.5 hours awake at a time. They do typically take 3 naps a day although all are under an hour.

Mine are just 6mnths old today. And my schedule is like yours
    645am wake
    830nap - 10 (I leave them in their cribs for 90min)
    10play
    11:30 - 1pm nap
    1 play
    2:30- 3:15 nap
    5:30 bedtime

my babies can't go more then about 1.5 to 1 3/4 hours without needing a nap.
