How old were they when they started blowing their own nose?

My mom was so shocked yesterday when she saw Trent get a tissue and blow his nose then bring it to show me the booger (Trevor copied, of course, although he showed me an empty tissue). I told her they've done this for months -- they also try to wipe off dirty hands and faces -- and I didn't think it was any big deal.

So, I thought I'd ask the experts :winking0009: How old were yours when they learned how to blow their noses?

Let me think... they've been doing it a while, so right about the age 2 or a little after I think.

    They watched me and learned.

It was just before they were two.

Mine are 2 yrs 5 months and still can't/won't blow thru their nose. They wipe just fine, and always want a kleenex in their cribs. But when we ask them to blow, they do it out their mouths and I can't fathom how to get them to understand the difference. Just saying "No, blow thru your nose, like this" isn't working. Any tips?

Funny that I should see this post. Over the weekend, Amber was having a goofy moment and one of the things she started doing was blowing air out of her nose. So now, when I tell her to blow her nose, she does. Emmy doesn't understand it yet though.

Hmmmm.....mine still blow through their mouths when we ask them to blow their noses!!!

They have recently started scrunching up their little faces and breathing in and out of their noses, as a silly thing to do (I guess!), so maybe we're getting somewhere!!

That's great your little guys will do it, it would make things so much easier!!

I can't remember when Lauren was able to do it... she was much older than 2 though... maybe closer to 3?

The twins can't do it. Henry doesn't understand how to blow out of his mouth though let alone blow his nose. Evy tries but she blows out of her mouth instead! LOL!

Wow...I'm impressed! especially with those under 2yrs old! No "true" nose blowing here until just recently (over 3.5yrs old). Until then they just wiped their noses and blew through their mouths.

Of course mine aren't doing it yet, but it is encouraging to hear that some kids started around 2 years. I can't wait until they learn how!!!

I think it was back in March when Peyton started, so that's 2 years 4 months. Mackenzie started a couple months later.
