I am just wondering...how often to you call the pediatrician? Do you call with every little sniffle? I am not one to call ours too much. For example, my kids seem to be acting pretty normal but have had the sniffles for a few days. Would you call? Just curious and wondering if I am too laxed or something?!

I generally call with fevers over 101, throwing up more than once, and major physical injuries--like when Marc passed out after falling into the storm door. I don't call for a basic cold. I have found that since I don't call much, when I do call, they bring us right in--the last two times without even asking what was wrong.

Ditto. (Those are times we go other than well baby check ups... which we are done with for a while :) )

I rarely call. Now when they first came home that first month I was a wreck with Noah and gas so the pedi and I got to know each other . Now, every time I come in for their milestone visits he jokes he has not heard from me. I do have to say they call back and get you in when you do not need them for every little thing.

I never call but my boys have until last week never had anything more than a very slight runny nose. About two weeks ago, they had a constant runny nose and acted a little fussy. One morning, Seamus was super cranky and I took his temp and it was 101. That is why I ended up calling which I am glad I did because they said to come in and it ended up they both had ear infections. If he was not acting different, I would not have taken his temp and who knows how long the ear infection would have lasted.

If my guys were not acting different, I wouldnt have called. Especially since they were eating fine too. The crankiness is what lead to the call since he is normally so laid back. Oh and his eyes were glossy too and had a little goop in them.

I generally don't call unless they show signs of ear infections (my DD was actually SLAPPING the sides of her head last time)...my kids haven't really had any fevers to date (nothing over 100.5 anyway)...

when they were little I did call the day Ian fell off the couch though - man did I feel like a heel!

We went a lot in the beginning with the reflux issues, but since that has been resolved, I think we have only been for one sick visit this whole year!

With my oldest he is in for well visits every two years.. with these guys only when they need the well visit on shot schedule. I google everything and MIL was a Nursery school teacher and an OR nurse - she gets most of the questions!
