How often they eat

My twin boys are 1 month old yesterday and still eat about every 3-4 hours. Is this normal? They are breastfeed with the exception of occasional formula.

You are lucky! Mine ate every 1.5-2 hours for the first 3 months!! 4 hours might even be a bit too long during the day, IMO.

 

I wouldnt go more than every 3 hours with a one month old, but that is JMO. Mine were the same as the pp...at least every 2 hours. UGH!

 

Wow, 3-4 hours?! You def have it made then At that age, the boys were eating every 1-2.5 hours, sometimes even sooner based on their cues.

 

Mine ate sooner than that too. Id say every 2-3 hours. If they were going to take a 4 hour stretch Id try to get them used to taking that at night ! Consider yourself lucky!

 

Mine were on a 1.5 hr [4 oz] schedule until they were 4.5 months old. Now they're still on a 2-hr [6.5 oz] [sometimes 2.5] with 2-3 solids and 1-2 snacks per day.

I agree with PP.. at that age I wouldn't be comfortable waiting over 3 hrs.

 

That is definitely normal and what they should be doing! We didn't switch to a 3.5 hour schedule until about 3 months adjusted and then a 4 hour schedule until about 4.5 months adjusted.

 

I've been wonding if my 4.5 month olds feeding schedule was normal. They are eating every 2-3 hours ranging from 6oz for my DS and 4oz for DD. Thanks!
