I have choosen to have the family doctor take care of Mary as well but now I am having second thoughts.

I was just wondering how often you felt a newborn should be seen by a doctor?

Mary saw Dr. C. 2 weeks after she was born and has an apt in Dec...I am not happy with that. I called the office yesterday to discuss it and a few other questions that have come up and they did not get back to me. I will say that they are a good office for me, DH and the girls and usually do get back to me quickly.

If I do switch I am unsure what to say to her so I don't offend her. She is wonderful with the girls!

    standard are generally:

    2wks
    4wks
    2mos
    4mos
    6mos
    9mos
    12mos
15 OR 18mos (depends on the doc I think)
    24mos
    then annually.

how old will she be in december? I have seen some babies skip the 4wk appt if they are doing well. They don't usually get their first shots until 2mos.

Same here. But I can make an appt anytime if I am concerned between well checks.

My girls were born in the middle of the night on a Wednesday. We were all released from the hospital on Friday, but I had to bring the girls in to see the pedi that Monday.

So we went 2 days after being released from the hospital
    then at 2 weeks
    2 months

    same as everyone else's

Amy, I am glad to hear that Mary is doing well!
Our schedule in seeing the pediatrician was:
    10 days after birth
    1 month
    2 months (first shots/check up)
4 months (another round of shots/check up)
6 months (shots again-I think...I'm pretty sure they shots then...and a check up)
9 months (check up and just the flu shot)
    10 months (flu shot only)
12 months (check up, not sure if there are shots then or not)

Of course, we went two additional times for sick visits! Good luck!

Glad she is doing well. I also go to a fam. doc and love it. We've never seen a pediatrician. I agree with the pp's about how often we've seen him.

I think we went at 2 weeks, 11 weeks (that was supposed to be 8 weeks but the doctor was booked up), 4 months, 6 months...

Plus we were there several other times because they were sick or had weird rashes, etc. But as far as scheduled well-baby visits, that was it.
