I just switched from a Midwife to a MD b/c she can't deliver twins where we live. He has been checking me every 2 weeks (I'm almost 31wks). I have not had any complications & he says everything looks awesome. I have my monthly u/s with the peri where he measures my cervix but the MD still checks me every 2wks on top of that. I appreciate him being cautious but arggggg I hate always being checked, my DH almost died yesterday when he saw him do it (it was the 1st appoint he'd ever been to).

I am only 20 weeks right now.. I am seeing both a MW and OB. .and neither one will check me until atleast 30 weeks.. unless reason to prior. Atleast this is what they say.

I have been going weekly since 28 weeks, and he has checked me every time. He only checked before that if there was a problem.

My Dr hasn't checked me yet. I asked him about it at my last appt and he said he's not going to check me unless there are problems. I have a scheduled c-section for 37w5d. I haven't had any contractions or anything yet so he doesn't seem to be worried. He said he doesn't want to irritate my cervix unnecessarily

It does make me a little nervous that he hasn't checked at all but I trust his judgement and if I feel things have changed I will question him further. I do get an u/s every 3 weeks with a peri.

I've had my cervix checked every two weeks or so but only with the vaginal u/s wand. No manual checks. I see a Maternal/Fetal specialist OB and get scanned every visit to see their HB's and growth. I much prefer u/s to a manual cervix check. Ugh!

I got checked at 32 weeks for the first time and only because I was contracting. I got checked the next week (33 wks) again only because i was contracting again. Then a couple times the following week due to contractions. then again the day I delivered because of ptl.

I've been checked weekly since 28 weeks. They weren't going to start internals until 32 weeks but I slipped and feel on the ice and went into preterm labor.

I haven't been checked at all and won't be checked unless otherwise indicated....not even during labour - it is not the done practice where I live..... Less Intervention has much better outcomes unless indicated. :FIFblush:

My doctor manually checks my cervix every 2 weeks and has since the beginning. He also does a quick ultrasound to see the 2 heartbeats. Every 4 weeks starting from week 20 I'm supposed to go for a full sonogram. He's a perinatologist and was on the Times best doctors list last year so I trust his judgement but I think he's very conservative.

Man, my DH would have a problem too - but I have a female OB and he didn't seem bothered by the birthing process at all with all those women up in my business (with my first).

As for being checked - my Doc checked me in the beginning and then two weeks ago. Maybe because I had a good first pregnancy... I don't know. I do have another US and appt in four weeks. I don't know if she will check me then unless I am having problems. ???

I have been checked every single visit, manually. My doc just wanted to make sure I wasn't dialating early (which is not uncommon). She's very careful, so it never bothered me, and it certainly didn't cause labor!
