How often do you go for prenatal apointments?

Hey everyone! My last prenatal visit was July 28th. I haven't been back to my Ob/Gyn since I went for my ultrasound that discovered I am carrying twins and revealed the genders. That was on the 5th and I don't see my doctor for my next routine prenatal visit until the 25th at 20 weeks. How often do you go for prenatal visits when expecting twins? Is it the same as a singleton pregnancy, with my son I only went every four weeks and then every two weeks the last month. I know I will be going for an Ultrasound now every four weeks....

Also, what are Nsts? I keep seeing people talking about them.

at 18 weeks I was going every 3-4 weeks, it went to every 2 weeks around week 26 and then finally once/week around 32 weeks or so.

An NST is a Non Stress Test, they hook up the sensors on your tummy and watch the babies high and low heart rates.

 

Does everyone go for an NST? At what point do you start going?

 

I didn't start going until the end. . . maybe around 34 weeks if I remember correctly{?}

It depends on your doctor and their protocol for monitoring twins. Since you have frats, I believe, unless you have had problems in a previous pregnancy that you would be monitored almost like you were pg w/ singletons until you hit 32 - 34 weeks or so. But like I said that depends on your doctor.

 

I started having NST's at around 30 weeks when I was experiencing some pre-term labor & my OB sent me over to Labor & Delivery (L&D) to be hooked up. I ended up in L&D about 3 times before my c-section date for NST's

 

I went once every 4 weeks until I was 32 weeks. Then I went every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, then I went every week until 37 weeks.

 

I started out every 4 weeks until 16 weeks.

Then every 2 weeks from 16-26 weeks

Every week after 26 weeks.

I'm also seeing the perinatologist for growth ultrasounds every three weeks. I'm having di/mo girls!

 

I'm still on the every 4 weeks schedule. After my next appt at 26 weeks, I'll start going every 2 weeks. Then every week from 32 weeks on. So far my pregnancy has been pretty routine so my OB doesn't see any reason to see me anymore often than he did with my singleton. My girls are di/di, so there's not as much risk as with some twin pregnancies.

 

I went every 4 weeks until they realized I was dialating at 26 weeks. Then I started going every 3 weeks and eventually was just in the hospital at 29 weeks! NSTs are nothing to worry about. I used to get them with my boys and now get them with this single pregnancy. It's just there way of making sure the babies or baby's heart rate flucuates as it should and to monitor your uterus for contractions. My guess is that they started you on those because they didn't "catch" your twin pregnancy until later...mine they caught at the sono (22 weeks) and statred freaking out because they didn't see two. Just relax and enjoy being a twin mommy :banana:

 

I am just like you! I don't know! I have been going every 4 weeks. My next appt is today and hopefully my Dr will tell me more! At the last appt on the 17th of July, I asked why not an ultrasound for this appt. All he said was, I will see you in a couple weeks after that anyways. So I have no idea what that means. I guess the best answer would be to ask him for a plan! (My dr knows he is dealing with an engineer and I think he likes to make me crazy!)

 

I have been going every 4 wks. After 25 weeks (my next appt) though I will switch to every 2 weeks. Then every week sometime in the mid 30ish weeks range.

 

I am having mono/di boys and went every 3-4 weeks until 24 weeks but I also had a growth scan every 3-4 weeks so I ended up being seen twice a month. After 24 weeks I started going every 2 weeks and after my next appt and growth scan this I will start seeing the OB weekly and having a growth scan every 2 weeks. My OB said that unless medical problems called for the need that she wouldn't send me for the NST's until around 34 weeks unless I wanted to go for peace of mind. I have had a problem free pregnancy thus far-she is always calling it textbook and is pleasantly surprised when another appt comes and still no issues (me too) I do think that in the next couple of weeks I will start going for the NST's just to be on the safe side though.

 

i go back at 21 weeks and i go every 2 weeks after that appointment and get an ultrasound every 4 weeks. then around 28 weeks he said he will probably have me go once a week! and get cervix checked every appointment! i have never been told anything about me having a nst...

 

Im going every 2 weeks, And has pretty much been that way since I found out there was 2! I have a ultrasound every 3 weeks. My doctor told me we would not start the NSTs till around 30 weeks. At 28-30 weeks I will start going every week.

 

I go exclusively to a Peri now. I've been seen every 2-3 weeks since pregnancy confirmation (did IVF) and then once I switched from RE to Peri he saw me at 15 weeks, 18 weeks, and then every 2 weeks until he says to switch to a week.
