How often do you get portrait pics of your babies?

Hey all,

I was wondering how often you do or plan to get portrait pics of your twinkies? Right now we're planning on getting them every three months until they're 1 year old. However, after they turn one do you get pics once a year or more often for a little while? I just figured I'd see what everyone else is doing. TIA .

 

we did newborn, 3 months, 6 months and i am taking them on the 30th for 9 month then i will do one year and maybe 18 months and then every year after that... We take ALOT of snap shots too.

 

Professional pics we had done at 3, 5, and 8 months. Then again at 15 months, and one a year ago of the twins... plus I take A LOT of digital camera pics.

Katie just has the pics the hospital took. I am getting more of her done in March I think.

 

We did a lot. We did each month from 1-6 and then we will do 9 and 12. After that it will be Easter, Birthday and Christmas.

We have about 3000 snapshots of them on the computer as well.

 

I did/do/will 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 18 months, 2 years, and then yearly for professional photos and we too take a ton of digitals.

 

apparently we are total slackers! We just have done 6 months and will do 1 year.

we take pretty good photos ourselves and in all honestly it is way too much work to get their photos done, and it's too expensive!

 

I take alot of pics, daily. But professional pics were done at 8 weeks and 1yr. I like the candids from home better, but do like having some posed ones, from here on out we will do them yearly.

 

With my first child, I did tons the first year - probaby once a month or every other month. It's been a little more difficult to get there with 3 kids. So far I've done 1, 3 and 6 months with the twins. They are going for their "Christmas" picture on Friday (yes, we're a little slow) which will be their 10 months picture. I plan on doing 12 months also. After that I will probably do Christmas and one other time during the year. It worked out perfect with my oldest because she is a June baby so they were every 6 months - birthday & Christmas. Not sure how it will work with the twins since they are March babies.

 

We did something like 3, 6,9 1 yr. and then 18 mos. Coincidently they all coincide with holidays. We plan on doing 1 @ 2 yrs and then each yr.

 

I guess I'm even more of a slacker than Mandy... we haven't done any professional pictures and the girls are already past eight months. At first it was too much of a pain and I didn't want to expose them to the germs, but then I decided that our digital pics from home are pretty good so why spend the money on posed pictures? I took their Christmas picture at home using a wrinkly sheet as a backdrop and had it printed at Walgreens for our Christmas card. They actually wouldn't release it to me until I signed something saying it wasn't from a professional studio (they're not allowed to do reprints legally from professional pics). So I figure that proved to me that digital pics from home are just as good (or close). I'm saving up the money I would have spent on Kiddie Kandids or wherever and will buy a digital SLR camera in a month or so to take even better pictures.

 

I had a friend who has a professional camera come and take pictures twice. They turned out great and it was free. You can print 8x10 for $1.29 and 11x14 for $8. I have been happy with them. I guess I am just not willing to spend the money. I do plan on taking them soon. Probably for 6 mo. Now that they are happier babies and hopefully will smile more. And of coures hunderds of digitals.

 

I guess I'm the biggest slacker (or cheapskate!)... the girls are over 10 months and we haven't taken them for professional pictures and I really don't plan on it. We take TONS of digital pix and video and I can get great pictures of them. Plus we have a really nice camera, computer and printer so for us it is a money-saver. But like someone else said in the beginning it was because I couldn't imagine how we'd get them there and take the pictures since Meara's fussy time, was Ana's happy time, and Ana's pukey time was Meara's happy time, etc. You get the point...

I'm a slacker or cheapskate too ! We did ONE professional at 2 weeks and that's it! I had planned on doing the birth, 3, 6, 9, 12 and then yearly but time caught up with me. I do take a lot of pictures on my own and my good friend did halloween/christmas shots of my two.

 

We did it that way. 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 months. Then at 2, 3, 4, 5 for my oldest. Twins I got 3, 6, 10, 13 and none since... they don't sit too well and I was tired of rescuing them from the table at JCPenney (not Picture People around here).

Ditto, I was thinking about taking them at 6 months, but I don't know, maybe not until a year. I have tons and tons of digital pics though.

 

I take a gazillon photos of my beebs...every Thursday I do a photo shoot here at the house (they turn another week older on Thursdays). But we signed up for a package with a pro for 4 photo shoots in the first year...newborn (was done at 2 weeks), 4 months, 8 months and 1 year. After that I think I will do their birthday (July) and family photos at Christmas.

 

I'm a little crazy. I took them in every month for the first year. Second year we planned 15 months (which was Christmas), 18 months (which will be Easter), and then we'll do a 2 year portrait. After that we'll do 1-2 per year.

 

2 months (these were their "newborn" pics after 5 and 6 weeks in the NICU)
3 months
6 months
8 months (they turned 9 months the day after Christmas, so we did them early for holiday & family pics)
12 months
15 months
18 months

Next time we go will be 2 years. We'll probably still do 2 1/2, 3, 3 1/2, 4 because their "half birthday" falls closer to Christmas and we'll probably always get Halloween/Christmas/family pics at that time.

 

Slacker Club member here too! I take a zilion digi pics and we bought a good video camera (when the girls were about 4 months old, which I wish we had bought earlier since I hardly remember what they looked like so little - although I have the pics!)

 

I did newborn, and we are going to do 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, plus all holidays and 1 family pic sometime during the first year. The place where I go has a "grow with me" program...you pay $150 and that includes all of the sitting fees for the first year and you can go as many times as you want. At the end of the year you get a large matted frame with 1 pic from each session (from the 3, 6, 9, and 12 month photos)....since I have twins I have to pick 4 of the photos of the girls together, but that's okay with me.

 

the first pics (newborn) were a given i would spend whatever but really i only bought announcements and one 8X10. The 3 month my SIL paid for which was nice.. 6 months i had a professional come to our house (friend) and spend all day and we got AWESOME pics... It was great, we did Halloween, Christmas, 6 months and family ones. It was only 150 and we split it with others that came to my house and had some made. She released all rights to the CD's she sent to me. Now i will go to target or sears and have 9 months one taken.. I take a bunch all month and always on the 23rd when they are one month older... To me you can never have too many they are this age one time only... My family never had a portrait of the whole family so that is SUPER important to me with the kids... We will go EVERY year to have that done...

 

Sign me up for Team Slacker as well. Haven't had any done yet. Everyone's always bugging me about getting them done but it just seems like a huge pain to me. Besides, I got a very nice camera and hope to really learn enough to that by their 1 year b-day I can produce some semi-professional pics.

 

For twins and DS we did newborn, 3 months, 6month, 9months, 12 months, 18 months, 2 year and then just yearly after that. I also take lots of digital photos.

 

We are just about to do our first professional ones. And that's only because we were given a gift certificate to kiddie kandids for my shower, and it is going to expire next week! So we are taking them this weekend. I wasn't really planning on doing it until 1 year, but now it looks like 9 month pics it will be! I kinda wish I had done the newborn ones, but oh well. We have billions of great digital pics that we took, so it's not like I don't have enough pics of them! I just figured it would be so hard to try and get a good pic of them at the same time.

 

I prefer candids and cameras are so great these days that I get a lot of good ones here at home. I suppose I'll do some sort of photo shoot at some point but never in a studio, posed and all of that. When I do get professional I'll probably invite a photographer to take pics while they play at a park or somewhere outside.
