My girls are 6 1/2mths old..adjusted they are 4months old. They are eating 4-4 1/2oz a feeding around 5 hours apart except in the middle of the night it ranges from 4-6 hours. I am wondering how much are your twins eating at this age and have you started rice yet? I am so confused since they are adjusted.. I never had to worry about this stuff before. I kinda just knew when to do it. Just thought I would get some other mommas input on this.

I started my full term twins on rice around 4 1/2 months. At that time, they basically just played with it and didn't really get the hang of it. We did it mainly to practice eating. At that age, I bottle fed 6-7 oz at 6:30am, 9:30am, 12:30pm, 3:30pm and 6:00pm. So 5 bottles totaling between 28-32oz a day. Now, at 7 1/2 months, they eat more solids (cereal, veggies, fruits) and only 4 bottles of formula per day. About 22 oz of formula. HTH!

One of my boys stayed 1 week at the NICU, while the other one stayed 2 weeks. I started feeding them cereal, veggies and fruits when they were 5 months and a half. Now they eat 2 meals per day. When they wake up, they drink milk like 6-8 oz after 3 hours they eat veggies mixed with cereals. the next 5 hours they take every 2.5 hours or so 4-5 oz bottle. then it's their meal of fruit and cereals. then after their daily night shower they drink their last bottle for the day.

I haven't started rice yet myself, but I have a good friend who has a 6 month old who is 4 months adjusted. Her ped. advised her to start rice (fortified) because his iron levels would start to deplete 6 months out of the womb. He's been doing great on cereal!

Mine were born at 32 weeks and we started cereal at 4 months actual. BUT, they were already getting cereal in their bottles due to reflux. I tried offering it on a spoon and really they didnt get it until about 5.5 months.

And at that age mine were going almost 2.5-3 hours between bottles.

My boys were 28 weekers. We started cereal at around 4 mths adjusted also---w/ recommendations from pedi and GI, so I think you are fine to start. If they hate it, then just put it off another 2 weeks. We are up to feeding them twice a day solids. They don't take a lot and it took a while to get the hang of it, but they usually enjoy it. (they are now 8 1/2 mths actual 5 1/2 adjusted).

One of my DS was taking 5 bottles a day and the other 6--4 hours apart at 4 mths adjusted. Now they are both taking 5 bottles a day--4 hours a apart and sleeping for 8 straight. One of my DS is taking about 28-30 oz a day and the other is taking around 20 oz-(he has had major reflux issues). I think they were taking a bit less than that at 4 mths adjusted. As long as they don't start taking less formula when they start foods, I don't see the harm in trying.

I completely understand the whole confusion of whether to go by adjusted vs. actual. I keep asking our drs. what we shoudl go by--don't think there is a hard fast rule, just have to go with how you think yours boys are doing. Our GI really seems to go more with actual when it comes to all eating questions.

I fed them formula every 3 hours until they were 8 months old. We started rice cereal off of a spoon at 4 months. They didn't care for it plain, so we quickly moved to fruits and veggies.

We were feeding bottles every 3 hours at that age, until probably 9 months or so. We started cereal at 6 months.

At my pedi's recommendation, we started cereal at 4 mo. actual (34wkers) Then soon added fruit and veggies. Now at 6 mo they are taking 4 8oz bottles (7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm) each, and 2-3 meals of baby food. They are hungry little things! Their nighttime sleeping started to regress and they were wanting bottles in the middle of the night, so we upped the baby food per our Pedi's recommendation.

I started my full term boys at 5 months only because they started waking for night feedings.

My girlfriend had her boys 5 weeks early and she started at 4 months because they acted like they were starving.

There is nothing wrong with giving your children cereal if they are acting like they are hungry around the clock.

My boys get 3 9oz bottles a day and 2 solid food meals.

    I say...GO FOR IT!!!

I don't know how those that feed their babies every 3 hours do it. My girls refuse to eat that often..they were on a 3 hour schedule when they came home from the NICU and we stayed on that for a long time, but then they would fight the bottles so we waited a little longer between feeds and that worked. I think we will go ahead and try the rice

I wish I got 3 hours in between! I bf at 7am at 7:30 they eat cereal at 9;30 they bf and nap until 11:00 and then bf again. At 12;00 they eat veggies and fruit, and at 1:30 they bf and nap at 2:00 until around 3:30 or 4:00 then wake and bf and bf at 6:00 and then bf at 8:00 and then they go to bed. Then we feed all night every three hours. Several people on here tell me its too early to do CIO at night so I get no sleep!
