Our twins were born 11/28/08 at 33 wks 4 days and in the NICU 26 days. They are 4 weeks old today. This is their third night home. We bathed them the first night...how often are you/did you bathe your twin newborns?

Baths are not one of my favorite things to do... I'll put that out there right away. I think I bathed the twins every 2 days but I bathe Evan every three days, like I currently do with the twins. DUring the summer if they've been active and need extra, I will bathe them then. But for the most part, my schedule is every 3 days.

We did twice a week in the very beginning b/c pedi said not to overbathe. Once they hit about 3 months, they enjoyed them so much we moved to every other night. Now at 5 months we have baths every night as part of the bedtime routine, but sometimes it's just a quick splash in the clean water without soap so we don't overdo it. Pedi said every night is fine IF they enjoy it, but every other or even twice a week is totally fine unless they are getting really dirty (diaper blowout, massive spit up, etc). Mine just love the water - when we got them baptised, DD cried the whole time until the priest poured the water over her head...then she started giggling. I think she thought he was going to give her a bath!

When they were newborns, we did a sponge bath 2x a week. As they got older (I think older then 2-3 months) we moved to 3-4 times a week. They were not a huge fan of baths as newborns but as they got older they enjoyed them more and now they love them!

We did baths 2x a week for ever! Then we did them every other day. Once they hit 9 months we started doing them everyday because they love to play! I still dont use soap everyday but I always use lotion! dont want to dry out their skin.

I was terrified to give them a bath for the first couple of times!! I think we averaged about twice a week for the first couple of months...and it would seriously take me about 30 minutes just to get everything ready for the bath plus another 30 minutes to get one of them bathed :D They would wake from a nap, I would nurse and then frantically pull things together for the bath, bathe just ONE of the babies and then try and get them back down for another nap before they were overtired! The other baby would wait until the next awake time or the next day for his/her bath

Now we bathe them every night (like mamabee, water only!) as part of the bedtime routine...it only takes me 10 minutes to bathe both babies now!!

Maybe every couple of nights or so until about 3 months and then it just became part of our nightly wind down process.

We did it once or twice a week until they were maybe 3-4 mo or so, when we started doing it every evening (bedtime routine).

We're now starting to try to get to nightly baths. It's tough!!

Like most of the others, we bathed twice a week for the first 2-3months. Now we try for every other day. one of my daughters has reflux, so she sometimes gets a bath more often. They used to hate it (which made me hate it too), but now everyone likes bath time.

I did about 2x a week in the beginning. When they were about 3 months old we had a regular routine of about every other night. Sometimes I would do one twin and then the other the following night. Lately they are so cranky at night and our routine is out the window. I am back to about 2x a week. I give them a sponge bath on the changing table in their diaper area as needed. They really never are dirty. I am happy not to dry out their skin anyway. It is dry as it is.

Once they came home from the NICU we did everyother day until they were 4 months, then we went to every night.

We bathed ours twice a week. They really don't get dirty at that age, and their skin dries out really easily (especially here in Colorado, and especially in the winter, when mine were born). Our ped said not to bathe them too often. Plus, I hated it. They screamed the whole time, I stressed about the bathroom being too cold, it was just stressful all around.

They started liking their bath around 5 months, but we still only did twice a week until they were over a year old. Then they started getting a lot dirtier :D and we switched to 3x a week.

This is embarassing to admit, but we didn't give them their first baths for a month after they came home! I know that sounds so awful, but we were so overwhelmed it didn't even cross our minds. Then we started weekly baths. We bath twice a week now. Our pediatrician said weekly was good in the beginning because as long as you're keeping their diaper area clean and cleaning up milk from their faces and necks, they're fine!

I bathed them every 2 to 4 days at first. Around 7 weeks we implemented a proper night time routine, including a warm bath. We've been bathing them every night since then (unless something comes up).

I am glad this came up. I hate absolutely hate giving mine a bath. I still hate giving my older DD a bath. I bathed them every couple of days in the beginning because it was way too hard to even do. We are still at this amount. I just don't see how you can bath them every night. By the end of the day I am so exhausted that I can barely get my older DD in the tub to bath her. I usually bath them during the day.
I thought that I was being a bad mother for not bathing them everyday but I just couldn't physically do it. I am glad toknow that i am not alone. Thank you.

My twins were born at 33 weeks also and spent 23 days in the NICU. Anyways, the first night they came home, I was so excited to finally give them their own bath by myself! From then until about 2 months of age, we did it about 2 x a week. Then for about a week or two we did it every day as a part of the bedtime routine. But then, I told myself they weren't getting dirty at all! So it's about 3-4x a week now!

At that age, only once a week. They do not get dirty when they are that young. Plus, for me anyway, bath time is a huge ordeal. I only bathe when I absolutely HAVE to. Which is 2 times a week usually.

My girls are 8 months now & we still do every 3 days. Unless, of course, somebody has a blow out. Then the whole schedule changes. I always bathe them both on the same day. It's just easier for us that way.

We still do 2x per week. But DS is trying to spoon feed himself all of a sudden, so the frequency is going to increase!

I asked the doc @ the hospital and she said twice a week without soap *just water except for their heads u can wash with soap as the soap dries their skin.
