How much is too much?? Her nose is running like crazy and I want to help her clear it up. She hates when I do it, but it helps...so, how often can I do it in one day?? Thanks!

I would only do it when it's REALLY STOPPED UP and having a hard time breathing. You really don't need to do it much. It will create MORE mucous and you don't need that!!! Just keep wiping her up!! I know it seems like it would help, but you will only add to the problem if you continually suction her out.

Maybe before her sleep at night! A raised head (pillow under the mattress to give a little angle) will help a little too.

Use a humidifier and I hope she feels better really soon! [IMG]

I think as long as her nose doesn't swell or bleed you can do it as much as you need to.

I'll give you a happy medium answer....I wipe mostly but bulb before feedings (bottles) so they can suck easier.

I wouldn't do it too much because it can have a bad affect on their nostrils, making the swell.

I hope they feel better soon!

I took DD to the ped. a couple of months ago because she woke at 2am with a bloody nose. He told me that I was probably using the bulb too much. Just use it when you feel it is absolutely necessary!

I actually use the bulb daily on my girls. Usually after the bath. I have not noticed any swelling bleeding or discomfort. I am majorly ewwwwed out by buggers so it is necessary for my girls always to have clean noses.

I do it before bottles, as a PP stated. But I use Little Noses saline drops first, just a few drops in each nostrol, as per the pediatrician's advice. It helps get more gunk out of there! The babies hate it, of course, but it really seems to help! [IMG]

Same here! I also do it before bed time if they are really stuffy. Our pedi also recommended the saline drops.

We use the bulb all day long. They get so stopped up they cannot breathe and it makes them very crabby. I have not noticed any swelling, bleeding or discomfort of any kind. We probably use it 10+ times a day when they have colds and 5 times a day on a "good day". There is no way I could sit there and watch them struggle to breathe through their nose or listen to the congestion all day - it is terrible to see them so uncomfortable.
