How often are you checked internally?

I had a pap smear and standard internal exam back at the beginning of my pregnancy at like 8 weeks. Since then, besides the cervix checks at the peri, I haven't had another vaginal exam...and I kinda expected that I would have one this appointment (at 34 weeks), but I didn't...seemed weird to me. I figured he would want to see if I was at all dilated or whatever...but nope.

Do you have more frequent internal exams?

My OB did an internal exam at my first appointment at 10 weeks to check the size of my uterus and didn't do another one until I reached 31 weeks or so. Now she does them at every appointment to check my cervix for dilation. (I'm 35 weeks now).

I had one at my 8 weeks and after that I only had once internal at 30 weeks when my cervix was shortening. but today at almost 35 weeks I didn't have internal. Might be next week? who knows. :unknw:

I had one at my initial OB appointment around 12 weeks and didn't have another until my water broke and I went to triage.

Other than the initial exam at the beginning of my pregnancy, I had no internal exams until I went to L&D for PTL. At that point they checked it, found out I was dilated and nobody checked it again until the day I delivered my girls.

I get an internal US once a month to check the length of the cervix. Other than that my OB just checks the reg baby stuff!

Doing a cervix check can actually introduce bacteria and cause harm. I didn't get one except when they suspected labor.

With the twins, I had a Pap at 8 weeks, a trans vag us at 26? weeks, a FFN test at 32 weeks, and a cervix check at 35 weeks. Cervix was closed tight, so OB said she wouldn't check the following week (this past week).

It was moot for me - after the BPP that I had before the appt with the OB, she sent me to L&D and had my c/s six hours later!

I only had the peri u/s checks up until about 31 weeks when the peri had noticed my cervix was shortening and I complained to my ob about cramping from there he started seeing me weekly and he checked my cervix at 32, 33, and 34 weeks. at 34 weeks I was 3cm dialated. He hasn't checked me sence he said now that I'm at 36 weeks it really doesn't matter what my cervix is doing, and at 34 weeks he wasn't to concerned with the dialation because he said if the want to come now we'll let them after 34 weeks we wont stop them. I'm almost 37 weeks and still holding on. If your having the u/s checks thats telling them your cervix is still strong, but if you'd feel better being checked tell them your having alot of pressure or camping, they'll check :D

I haven't been checked at all this pregnancy, but that's because I just had a pap at my 6 week post partum checkup and that baby was only about 6 months old when we conceived the twins. My OB has mentioned he might like to do one soon but at my last appointment he didn't, maybe this one...who knows. That's a good point about introducing bacteria etc, if they can see cervical length on a u/s maybe they don't need to do a physical? But if you feel you need them to check ask, they probably will. :)

Every visit with my specialist. It started every 4 weeks and soon went to every 2 weeks until I delivered.
Congratulations on your twin pregnancy!!

Every single visit. I had a transvaginal u/s at 6w4d when we found out, then at every visit I had an internal check to make sure that I wouldn't dilate too early (which is not uncommon with twins but can be life threatening for the babies if not caught in time).

I made it until 38w2d, my scheduled induction ...

i get checked every week, when it's ultrasound day it's with the u/s thinga-ma-jig but when it's prenatal appointment day it's the old fashioned finger test. :(
