I'm just shy of 27 weeks and today I went to the Dr. and found that I've put on 41 lbs. I have a feeling that I might have a good 20 more to go.

For those of you that have already had your twins, how much weight did you gain total?

Another question - is it true about twin skin? Will I always have some extra hanging over my pants?

I havn't had mine yet but I was about 126 when I got pregnant and I now weigh close to 180. I really hope the skin thing isn't for sure but I don't have any stretch marks yet so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My weight gain has slowed a lot over the last 4 weeks. I think I gained ten pounds of it the first 2 months, I really didn't have much morning sickness.

I'm 23 weeks and have gained about 21 pounds so far. I was a little over weight to begin with and was hoping to not gain too much. My doctor said from day one that she wasn't worried about it and neither should I. I think I look huge..but everyone else says that they can barely tell and that it is all belly. Who knows whether they're being "honest" or not...but I appreciate it!! LOL

I gained 3 pounds total by 15 weeks, 11 total by 22 weeks, and now I'm 24 weeks and looks like I gained 3 pounds in the past 2 weeks to make a total of 14 pounds altogether. It seems since week 15 i've put on a pound to a pound and a half per week. So at this rate, if I'm pregnant hopefully for another 12-13 weeks, I'll have gained about 32-35 pounds total by the end of this pregnancy. So far my 14 pounds is all belly and breasts [IMG]

I gained 61 pounds, but lost six pounds the last two weeks before delivery. No room for much food. [IMG] I gained about 19 pounds by 17 weeks. My weight kept creeping up about two pounds a week after that. I lost forty pounds by my six week check-up. The last twenty came off after I stopped BF, at 17 months. My skin went back with a little sagging, but nothing hanging over my jeans or any other pants.

Don't worry about this. Stay healthy for those babies and the weight will come off. Good luck.

It just totally depends on your body, and how well it tolerates it all! I gained nothing for almost 4 months because I was so sick. Then in my second trimester I had a huge appetite and put on 25 lbs or so...now that I'm almost 33 weeks the weight gained has slowed and I actually lost 4 lbs last week because there's just no room for food. Two bites and I'm done-- It doesn't really matter--don't stress it. As my ob said, "there are things worth worrying about...and that's not one of them."

I went to 34w5d and gained right around 30 lbs from my pre-preg wt. Like pp, I was very sick for the first 4 months and couldn't eat much for the last month and a half or so. Turned out I actually had 35 lbs of total wt. gain because after I lost all of the water weight, I was 5 lbs less than pre-preg. Most from eating better and muscle tone loss. Unfortunately I've put the 5 back on - and it's definitely not in muscle!

I would have to say that the twin skin is a real thing. I am also 37, so I don't have the elasticity that a 25-yr-old would. Mine is not real bad, but I still don't like it. Then I look at my sweet little babes, and it just doesn't even matter!

Try not to stress too much about weight. I'm 34w2d and have only gained 14 lbs ... i freak out about it every time i go to the doctor ... but i was overweight to begin with ... My doctor is not concerned, the babies are growing well and measuring perfectly ...

I have extenuating circumstances though ... i had a gastric bypass a few years ago, so i already can't eat as much as the normal person ... plus, they tell me to drink as much water as i can (already been to L&D 3 times for dehydration) so all i do is drink as much as i can ... i'm up to about a gallon a day, and i still don't know if it's enough! but because of my surgery, i can't eat and drink at the same time ... so i've been doing a lot of Ensure's and drinking my calories in.

But regardless of all that ... try not to compare yourself. Eveyone's body is different ... and some may gain a ton, and some may not ... just try and be healthy, and eat some ice cream if you want it, and deal with the weight after the babies arrive all nice and healthy!

  10. I gained 28 pounds. I had really bad morning sickness in the first half. At the very end, I put on 12 pounds in 2 weeks! As long as the babies are growing normally and the dr isnt concerned, I think youre fine.

I gained 40 lbs when I had them at 29 weeks - and was measuring around 40 weeks...

I've lost all but 5 - and look like I did before, + the five lbs. - which is all in my waist/tummy....

I was 140 pre-pregnancy and i got up to 216; a lot of it was fluid that I was retaining. You definitely dont want to wear low-rise pants with the twin-skin, it will hang over. If you get the right cut pants you can hide it, you have to find what works for you.

I only gained about 24 pounds, I had lost about 7 early in the pregnancy, and have lost it all plus about 12 pounds. BUT... my stomach is very saggy, so I don't feel thinner than before. I had about 35 pounds to lose before I got pregnant, which helps explain the small gain. I was younger and thinner when I had my first 2 daughters (11 and 13 years ago) and gained 65 pounds each! I just got very lucky this time! (by the way... my twins were 6lb 5oz and 7lb 8oz at 36 weeks so I was definately eating what I could!)
I wouldn't worry about it at all... you are doing a great job!

The last time I was weighed I was 19 weeks and I had gained a total of 18 lbs. My doctor said that is perfect. 1 pound per week. I am curious to see what I weigh in two weeks (23 weeks). I feel like I have expaned so much since then. Mine is also all belly and breast.

As for the sagging I really hope it's not true, but DH said he would pay for me to get a tummy tuck when we are finished having babies. [IMG]

I gained 31 pounds and delivered at 40w2d.....
when I found out I was having twins my Dr told me to expect to gain around 50 pounds....it all depends on the pregnancy...my ex-husbands aunt delivered at 29 weeks and had already gained over 75 pounds!!
As for twin skin...yes, it is real...it does get better but let me tell you, no matter how flat my tummy is, it will NEVER be the same! Everyone I know who has twins complains about their tummy!! But those things are always more noticable to us!!!
Just remember that what is more important is the health of the babies!!!

I gained 41 pounds until the day I delivered and I shot up to 55. The weight gain is the reason why I had to have them delivered. Alot of my weight was water weight though from all the meds and toxemia. yes it is true about twin skin.. its gets better but it doesnt go away.

My weight gain is similar to yours, I am at 27 weeks and have managed to pack on 39 lbs so far, I started off weighing 155 and now weigh 194. Everyone that sees me, just think I am all baby which is good. I fit into size 12-14 pants, and am 5 ft 7" tall. I am long in the torso which helps, but I can't find shirts long enough! Anyways, I think you are doing alright....I know that I just want my babies to come out with a bit of fat on them[IMG]

I gained 43 pounds, not too much if you consider that my twins were both close to 8 pounds (15 1/2 pounds in total). My belly is still a little soft, but not "hanging" over. I try to do some exercises, hope it helps. At least I am 7 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight so that's something.

I gained about 27-28 pounds total...and at 12 weeks post partum, i'm about 5 pounds over my ideal weight (i'm breastfeeding, so I can't diet). I lost most of the weight within two weeks, but my clothes didn't start fitting until sometime between 9 weeks and this week (i only checked again recently).

As for the twin skin...right now I have a muffin top...we'll see how it goes...it's too early to say.

I gained about 40-45 lbs. I was worried in the beginning that I wasn't gaining enough (had only gained about 10lbs by 20 weeks).

My tummy skin is a little bit stretched, but you can't really tell if I stand up straight. It's not enough to bother me. Now my boobs....that's another matter [IMG]

I am 27 weeks pregnant. I weighed about 132 lbs. pre-pregnancy and at this week's visit i weighed in at 168.5 lbs. So I've already gained between 35 and 40 lbs., and I too expect to gain about another 15 or 20 lbs. (maybe more???) No stretch marks so far, so that's good. This is my 3rd pregnancy.

I gained 58 pounds and lost 48 of it so far ... and the twin skin thing is terrible, it's still hanging around and after our 3rd and last child I am having a tummy tuck. [IMG] Already got the OK from my honey.

I gained 26 pounds from being weighed at my first OB appointment. I think I had probably already gained 5 lbs or so before that, though. Fortunately, I lost all the weight and about 20 extra lbs after delivery. I weighed about 155 pre-pregnancy and am now at 135 or so. I was very lucky to not have to worry about the weight loss, but even though I weigh less, my shape has changed and my clothes size (especially pants) hasn't changed that much. I feel that I lost most of the weight in my upper body (including my boobs), my legs, and my butt. I feel that I do have some "twin skin" and my belly button is kind of stretched out with wrinkles at the top. My husband doesn't think it is bad, so I guess I will just hide it with clothes and not worry about it right now.

50 pounds even. It was all lost in the first couple months and I've taken off another 18 since then. Many of my pre-preg clothes STILL DON'T FIT because of the extra skin around the midsection. Exercise and weight loss isn't enough to fix the floppy skin so I'll likely have surgery in a couple of years.
