    Hey ladies,

I have to return to work in two weeks. The twins will be 12 weeks old. All the twin moms I meet either are stoping work all together or took six months off. Since I was off for three months before I delivered, I really can't afford to take more time off, plus if I take more time off my job won't be there anymore. I was just wondering how much time you guys took off?

Well, I was supposed to go back to work after the girls were born. I had planned on going back after about 10 weeks but towards the end I just couldn't do it. So, we refinanced our house and paid off some bills so that we could afford for me to stay home.

I was already a SAHM before they were born, so I just continued being a SAHM. So, really, I took 0 days off from work, lol! [IMG]

I took two weeks of short-term disability before the girls were born. I was supposed to go back after six weeks, but since the girls were in the NICU for 2 1/2 weeks I decided to take another 4 weeks. So I took off 10 weeks after they were born. But I only ended up working full-time for 3 months and then quit my job because I couldn't stand being away from them all day!

I went back two days shy of 6 weeks.

I technically "took off" 6 months, but since I teach, I really only took of 1 month in the spring and 3 months in the fall. I love that I was able to use the summer to my benefit!

I was a 2nd grade teacher and am taking this school year off. I plan to return in August when school starts back. I'm looking forward to the social aspect; however, I know I will miss the little ones terribly!

I stopped working at 30 weeks pregnant and about 1 week before they were born - my boss called and asked me how long I would take -
so I just told her to hire someone else so I am not going back and
Heaven knows we can't afford it - but I LOVE being at home with them
and can't imagine going back! (for one thing I would never be able to get us all dressed and out of the door in time for me to get to work by 8am!)

Mine is kind of a weird situation. I work FT from home. When I was put on bedrest at 16 weeks after my emergency cerclage, I could still work FT. I laid on the couch or in bed and worked.

Then I was admitted to hospital bedrest at 24 weeks, and the hospital did not have high speed internet. I didn't feel like I could work enough to justify that I was working FT, so I went on disability at this point. I still did about 15 hours of work a week, enough to meet my sales quota for the quarter, but that was it.

I was on disability until I delivered at 31 weeks. I took a week to recover from my c-section, then started working so I could take my time off when the girls were discharged from the NICU. I went up to see them after work with DH.

Once they were both discharged, I took 6 weeks off. One of them was discharged 1 week before the other, but I did work during the week just she was home.

If I had to leave the house to go to work though, I don't think I could have gone back after 6 weeks. I may have had to to keep my job, but I just don't know how I would have done it.

I took off about 17 weeks total, 5 before they were born, and 12 after their birth. I had to go back to work, no other way around it, but I really like their daycare so it makes it easier to leave them every morning!

I teach third grade and went back to work the day the girls turned six weeks old. I was hospitalized for PTL at 33 weeks exactly and taken off work then and delivered 5 weeks later, so I was off for 11 weeks total.

I worked up until Thursday and had them the next Tuesday (at 36 weeks) so I was able to take 12 weeks off after they were born...

oh and I only went back to work about 28 hours a week so I'm not FT and probably won't be until they go to school (if we can swing it)

I wasn't planning on returning to work, but at 6 months, my foot was still in the door so I went back PT. So, just about 6 months... almost to the day! It's been almost a year now that I've been back & at first I was gung ho wishing I could help out more, but now I'd rather be home with the kiddos on those two days. I get more sleep when I don't go to work, but it gets me out of the house for those 16 hours.

I had quit my job before the babies were born when I was 34 weeks and then they were born at 36 weeks. I was home with them for 11 months before I took a new job. Financially I needed to go back to work at that point. Of course I would love to be at home full-time.

First of all i applaud all you ladies for going back so soon. There is no way i would ahve managed that. Over here we get 6 months paid leave and 6 months unpaid leave. So i will be due to go back the day before their 1st birthday in April. I am still wondering if i can go back though. I only work 10 hours a week and to pay for 2 children 2 go to childcare for 5 hours is not going to be worth my while working but i love my job so much and miss the kids. Need to find myself a full time permanant job! Any one know of any going? x

I had about 8 weeks of short term disability before they were born and was then off for 16 weeks after they were born. MA law allows for 8 weeks per child, so I took full advantage (although I only got paid for 8 weeks).
