How much tantrumingis normal?

Let me start by saying I teach early childhood special ed so I really only know atypical behavior. My boys are 27 months and one does have melt downs when things don't go the way he wants. He jumps up and down and screams..but recovers fairly quickly. They get speech and I would like to get them more, but they are fine in other areas...anyway the point of this rambling was when I talked to the speech therapist about getting them into program she mentioned I should talk about the tantrums (like that would qualify them for special ed...although at an older age it would) I know she was trying to help cuz they really don't qualify but when she mentioned the tantrums...I said "yeah, but they are 2!" So is this "normal" behavior for 2 or not?? How often in a day does your child have mini meltdowns and or full out tantrums?

 

A lot. If tantrums alone could qualify you for something, we'd be in the Olympics.

 

It seems like everytime I turn around there is a meltdown occuring with someone. So I agree. A lot!!!! Both my boys sound like what you've described. You'd think I took away their best friend when I tell them no or have to take something away!!!

I would have to agree with all the pp's....ALOT! At 18 month-2.5 years, it seemed like one or the other was tantruming ALL DAY LOOOOOONG!
