So I just gave them peas for the first time today. Logan hated it... but Jack loved it =)
I'm wondering how much to feed them now. This is what I'm thinking about doing, but I'm not sure it its too much, or not enough. Breakfast- 5 oz bottle with 2 Tbsp cereal. Lunch 1 jar veggies and 6 oz bottle. Snack- 6oz bottle. Dinner 8oz bottle and 3 Tbsp cereal. How much are other people feeding?

I think your ticker is a year ahead?? They are 5 months right?

At 5 months my Ped recommended 24-40 ounces of formula. We were always on the higher end of the formula totals. Are they on 4 bottles a day at 5 months? That's amazing. Is the cereal added to the bottle for reflux or are you feeding it separate? FWIW, when we first started solids I didnt change anything with their bottles-heck I didnt even feed it to them everyday. I just fed them solids about 1.5 hours after their afternoonish bottle and went from there. It was all about trial and error for us. It took them a few weeks to really get the hang of how to do it and really like it.

ha, Thanks I updated it a little too quick and didnt notice! yes, they are 5 months. They've been on 4 bottles a day since they were 3 and a half months. We are feeding the cereal separate. They have been doing really good with the cereal, but now I am confused how much veggies they should be eating. I'm sure they will let me know how much they can handle, right?

Okay, I am not trying to give you a hard time by replying to all of your posts :D but 3 meals a day at 5 months seems like alot to me and their formula intake is not all that much. However, I have no idea what they weigh or how they are growing and so this is totally off the cuff. But I would drop at least one solids feeding and increase the bottle amount if you can. At this age they are getting all of their nutrition from the formula and all of the solids will just interfere with that. They are just for practice. You will have lots of solids feedings to look forward too, but for now I would slow it down. Again, JMO :pardon: But if not, they will definitely let you know when enough is enough and if it cuts into their formula intake, I would decrease it for sure. :)

25 oz of formula sounds ok to me although my guys are eating 34- 40 oz. I think 3 meals a day does seem a little much at this age. I just started solids with my boys and I am only doing it once a day and finish it off with a bottle. I mix the fruit/veggies in with the rice cereal. Hope that helps.

I started mine on 2 meals at 7 months. Will probably add lunch at 8 months. Mine never drank much formula (except during growth spurts), and now they're stable at 24oz a day for her and 28oz a day for him. They split 2 big spoons of yogurt, some cereal and half a jar for breakfast, and a jar for dinner (sometimes with a bit of cereal and 1oz of formula too). They've been sleeping through for 2 weeks, so I guess they're eating enough.

    This is our schedule...

    6 am 6 and 8 oz bottles
9 am 1 jar of fruit or cereal and 4 oz bottles
    12-1 pm 6 and 8 oz bottles
3-4 pm 1 jar of veggies and 4 oz bottles
7 pm they share a veggie or fruit and have a little juice to wash it down
8 or 9 pm 6 and 8 oz bottles then bed.

DS has a bottle around 2-4 am on most days.
