How much should they be eating?

Hi! My twin girls are a 5 1/2 mos old. How much formula & baby food should they be eating? Right now we're still doing 5-6 oz bottles of formula & they share one container of stage 1 food. Thank you for your input!

 

Oh that sounds great to me! We were doing about 8 oz but my guys were big eaters! And they were only starting baby food! Have fun!

We didn't start food until 6-7 months - what you are doing sounds great.

 

My twins will be 5 months in a few days. They are eating 4 bottles a day - 7 ozs each. We won't be starting baby food until 6 months.

 

My guys are 5.5 months. They take 4-5 eight-ounce bottles a day (well it's 3.5 scoops of formula, not 4 as suggested to make 8 ounces on the side of the can, but it always makes 8 oz with all of that water and powder). They do cereal, usually just once a day, 3 big teaspoons each mixed with lots of formula (pretty runny). I don't know if what my guys are doing is normal. If I do cereal twice a day they only take 4 bottles.

 

we just started solids and so they are sharing half a jar once a day for now, and drinking 5/6oz bottles.

 

Mine bf at home (5:30 a.m.), 4-5 oz bottles at 9, 12, 3, then bf (6:30, 10). They eat solids after bf at 6:30. They are just now getting to where sharing a jar isn't enough. I mix 3 Tbl. oatmeal with bm and add a jar of whatever and then usually give them half a jar of fruit for dessert.

 

My almost 5 month old baby cakes BF's at 6am, 9am, 1pm, 5pm, 8 pm... W/ no baby food. Does she eat enough?! LOL, she's a porkie face!

I think that sounds fine! I always fed mine until they became uninterested...sometimes it was more, sometimes less!

 

I nurse, so knowing oz's is kind of hard, but when they would have a bottle they'd take about 6oz at a time. I held off on solids until 6 months but they'd have cereal with a whole tub of fruit in the morning at that stage.
