how much milk are yours drinking at this age? I was reading the other thread about how many gallons of milk people go through in a month and mine seemed really low!! mine drink approximately 12 oz of milk a day - along with probably about 6-8 oz of water/juice....they also get yogurt and I generally buy fortified food (cuz I'm not a milk drinker AT ALL)...

    does this seem low??

Our pedi and family Dr suggested 16oz of milk products so that's milk, cheese, yogurt, etc...

At that age ours were probably getting about 16-24oz a day.

    I think it sounds good!

Mine don't drink milk yet but our pedi has a website with info on how to wean. I was just reading it today and came saw this:

"Provide other sources of calcium, such as yogurt, cheese, or ice cream, if your baby is not drinking at least 16 fl oz (473.2 mL) of formula from a cup each day. Your baby needs calcium every day for growth."

I hope this helps you! :)

ETA: Sorry, I probably should have said this refers to babies over 12 months of age, after they have been weaned from a bottle - which would apply to you.

Mine drink about 20 oz of milk a day, but that's unusual, according to most of my friends with little ones the same age.. My pedi gave me requirements similar to the first reply.

Mine drink 16-20oz. of milk a day, but we do try to incorporate other sources of dairy (i.e. yogurt, cheese, etc.). Some snack items also contain calcium (although in much smaller amounts than milk) such as graham crackers.

I'd say about 16 ounces for Grace and 20 for Lily. I have to give Lily juice/water combo for her snack because she would drink way too much milk if I didn't.

I aim for 16 oz a day but it can vary daily. I've been playing around with the second bottle (they get one 8oz bottle in the am). I am trying to wean them from needing a bottle before bed. We have started switching the 7pm bottle to 4:30 which was their previous dinner time. Then we give them dinner at 6pm. Funny thing is, dh and I love the cuddle time with them before they go to sleep that we find ourselves giving them bottles with only 4 oz anyway even though they may or may not drink it :D

Yours sound fine. :) Mine drink between 12-16 oz. of milk a day. We were told no more than 16 oz. by the pedi so they would be sure to eat well too.

if mine drank 16-20 oz of milk a day they'd never eat! They weren't even drinking that much formula at the end....wow I'm amazed at how much some of your littles ones can drink

Mine drink at least 20 oz. per day (in 2 servings) plus about 6 oz. of juice/water, plus 3 full meals which also include other milk products, yogurt, cheese. They don't get snacks though, I guess the milk is their snack. Maybe it's too much but sometimes they even ask for more. Maybe that is why they seem so heavy, but their appetite has always been so good.

At that age, we were still taking 3 bottles a day. On average, each bottle was about 4 or 5 ounces. So, about 16 to 18 ounces a day maybe. We had cut out the afternoon bottle and replaced with a snack. Yogurt, cheese, crackers, banana whatever they would fill up on so that they wouldn't want a bottle.

I have to say- mine are not big drinkers whatsoever! We were lucky to get 8-12 in them a day so I have to make sure they are getting calcium from other sources and fluid from fruit, milk in their yogurt, etc. They were peeing and growing so I figured we were doing okay even if we weren't at the standard recommendation.

I get about 8oz of milk into my girls. Neither one really cares for it, but I make sure to give them other dairy products. Both of my girls love water and prefers to drink that. At my 1 yr appt I asked the doc about their milk intake and he said that as long as they are growing its fine. I'm also giving extra fat from other sources, and as far as nutrition I have them both on JuicePlus vitamins and they get everything they need from that. HTH

Wow, my ped. just said to not give more than 24 oz. a day... the boys were 22 lbs. at their 1 yr. and growing right along their curve perfectly. I offer about 24 oz. and sometimes they drink it but normally they leave about 2 oz. in their sippy -so over the course of the day they get about 18 oz.

I was giving them around 16 oz/day, but then DD started having lots of problems getting constipated & they also wouldn't eat very much (filling up on milk) so I was told to cut back to 12 oz/day. But they also get lots of yogurt, cheese, etc.
