So the girls are 7 weeks & 2 days old. We have had horrible latch issues (tiny mouths & HUGE boobs) that have resulted in 3 breast infections in 6 weeks! Anyways the girls are nursing once a day & getting EMB in a bottle once a day. All other feedings are formula. They generally eat about ever 2 hours... but at night will generally sleep from 10PM-3:30AM before waking to eat... & then they go back to sleep until 7 or so... BUT last night Carlie slept until 4AM & Baylie until 6:30AM!!!!!

Anyways my question is... how much did your twins eat at 7 weeks? The girls are continually eatting 4 oz at every feeding... sometimes they will want more.

Oh yeah... they were 35 weekers & currently weight 7lbs 8oz each.

I was always told early on, that if they were emptying a bottle consistantly, to add an ounce to the bottle. That way you know they are getting their fill.

I was one of those moms that wouldn't waste formula, if there was more than an ounce leftover, I put it into the next feeding as long as it didn't sit out too long. If there was that much left over consistently, I wouldn't make as much. Use them as a guide for how much to make. I guess that's the point I was trying to get to.

Mine are 12 weeks and Beau eats 4 oz every feeding (every 3 hours during the day) and Savannah eats 3 sometimes 4 oz... Beau went to 4 oz around that age and has not moved up just yet. :)

I would add an oz if they are finishing and seem hungry still. My babies have been all across the board as far as amounts at that age.

Hi there! My twins are 7 weeks 1 day, and they are taking 4-6 oz at each feeding. I usually offer them each 5 oz, and once they start draining those consistently, we'll move up to 6 oz. Mine are good eaters. At 6w5d, they weighed in at 9lb12oz and 10lb3oz (they were 5lb15oz and 7lb6oz at birth - 37w6d).

    Good luck!

Mine were 35 weekers as well. At 7 weeks they weighed probably around 8 pounds. They were drinking 2-3 oz 8 times a day. Mine have never had big appetites. I agree with pp . . . if they are consistently finishing their bottles then I would add a half an ounce to an ounce more and see how they do.

My guys were the same at 7 weeks. It seemed like a lot to me, but I just went with it. Now they take 7.5 ounces 5 times a day at 20 weeks. Turns out they're tall boys and big eaters. They were born at 6 lbs, but I suspect they would have been a lot bigger if they'd been singletons. I'd just go with it.

I think it varies a lot -- mine were also 35-weekers, and are almost 6 weeks. They take 3.5 oz every three hours, around the clock, although my little girl is probably ready for a little more.

I don't have much input on your question, but I just wanted to say congrats on sticking with the breastfeeding at all, despite everything you've been through... I just got my first breast infection and can't even imagine 3 in 6 weeks. Good for you!!

Mine are 7 weeks and 3 days and DS is taking 5-6oz every 3 hours pretty regularly. He has had a couple nights in a row now (since we switched to 5-6oz for him) where he has slept from 9pm-4am or 10pm-5am and DD 4-5oz every 3 hours but she does not sleep as well at night.

I end up wasting a ton of formula as I make 6oz bottles for each because I want to make sure they get what they want without having to fuss when I have to get up to get more for them.

    Good luck!
