My boys are 11 months & still drinking 32 oz. a day & eating 3 meals. Is this too much or just right??

My boys will be 11 months on 12/3 and up until the past week or two they were drinking 30ish oz/day of formula and breastmilk.

Over the past week or so, they aren't interested in finishing their bottles and often only drink 5-6oz instead of the 8oz that I give them. So, they are now down to anywhere from 24-30oz of formula and breastmilk each day.

Actually, I think they'll be happy to be done with bottles, they act like they hate them!

Maybe they are thirsy. I would call the ped to be sure, but probably not a bad thing at all.

My boys were always on the high end of the formula range too. I think it sounds fine. :good:

According to my Ped, 32 oz is the maximum they should be taking in. IF you are planning to have them off of bottles by a year, it might be smart to start giving them some milk in sippy cups (replacing a bottle here and there)... to make the transition easier on all of you.

Because I knew I wanted these guys off of bottles at one year, I began by taking one away at 9 mos and replacing it w/ whole milk sippy, then by 10 mos they were on 2 bottles, 2 sippies, and 11 mos one bottle 3 sippies and at one year.. tada! They were on all sippy cups and it was a very smooth transition cuz it didn't come at them all at once. Worked well for me!!

Good luck. If they're drinking it, I wouldn't worry cuz they won't drink themselves sick, I don't think :)

My girls are about a week short of 11 months. Currently they take about 22 oz a day. They eat three meals and one snack. When I asked my ped I just asked what was the minimum they should be getting since as I was increasing food their formula intake was dropping. She told me from now until one year to make sure they take a minimum of 20 ounces a day.

Thanks so much for the advice! My boys have been off the bottle since they were 10 months old & I didn't want to be overfeeding them.
    Happy Thanksgiving everyone! ;)
