I'm thinking of changing up the boys' schedule a bit and it would result in only three 8 oz. bottles a day (24 oz of formula) plus cereal and solids. Would this be enough? They weigh 20 pounds each. TIA!!

Mine drink about 24 oz. a day, sometimes a little more, sometimes less. They are 19 1/2 lbs and 22 lbs., so it seems to be enough for them!

You should ask your ped about this. At our 9 month appt I was told that the babies had to stay at 28oz of formula a day. Of course, my daughter has never eaten that much ever. [IMG]

Sounds like our babies are eating the exact same thing! We get 3 8oz bottles of formula and two meals of solids a day also. Our pedi says they must have 24oz of formula a day, which they are getting a little more if you count what is mixed into their cereal. I'm not sure how much mine weigh right now, they were 17 lbs at their 6m checkup, but they are nice and chunky[IMG]

Mine eat between 24 and 30 , but I'm tring to cut it to 30 every day, plus 3 meals.

mine have about 28 oz (4 - 7oz bottles) then the get between 2 (sometimes a 3rd) solid meals. somedays though, they want a 5th bottle (cry and carry on with nothing else is wrong) so then they get another.

my boys are almost 8 months old and the bigger one consistently eats 4 8oz bottles and 2 solid meals per day. he guzzles his bottles too so sometimes I think that he needs more, but I think the fact is that he just LOVES his food! [IMG] My smaller one though sometimes will only take 4-5 ounces per bottle. So, I think that it just depends on the kiddo. If you are worried, I would surely ask your pediatrician.

Both have four 8oz bottles...so 32oz in 24 hrs. Brooklyn sometimes takes a little less than that, Kaeden is a big eater so he always takes his 4 bottles, they also each get 1/2 a cup of cereal and 2 meals of baby food and snacks throughout the day like mum mum cookies, heinz cookies, cheerios etc. Brooklyn doesnt always want the snacks, she doesnt seem real big on eating table foods yet, Kaeden, again will eat anything I give him. He is just over 20lbs and I think Brooklyn is like 18 or 19lbs (cant remember offhand, I'm tired)

I was getting worried that mine weren't getting enough - thanks for this post! I offer them 26 ounces per day (over 4 feedings), but I bet they end up taking 22-24. They get oatmeal twice a day, so I add about 1/4 scoop of formula to each bowl.

I can't get them to eat any more. They spit at me, shake their heads, push the bottle away. My pedi said NOT to force them to eat, so after a few attempts and a little break (10 minutes), if they don't want it, then we're done.

I have also noticed that they don't want as much bottle before a solid feeding. It's like they know they get food and they don't want to waste time sucking down a bottle.

I am giving water in a sippy twice a day, but they might get 1/2 ounce. They are still trying to figure that whole thing out.

At 8 months mine were only drinking 20 oz. of formula a day. Pedi said that was fine. They have never been big formula drinkers. So your 24oz. sounds fine to me.
