    Hi everyone,

My boys are almost sitting up, I think they need another couple of weeks. In terms of playing and keeping themselves occupied, does it get easier. I am tired of placing them on the floor, holding them moving them to their rockers etc.T they also get tired when on their tummies for too long. I would love to hear your stories. Thanks

I wouldnt say it got easier, but it added to our options. :) It was the nicest Christmas present ever!

I loved it because it was it was a whole new world to them. We could read books easier, put toys in their laps, etc.

I think it got easier when they could sit really well...you know, you don't have to worry about someone pitching backwards. Once they can sit up they'll start reaching for stuff and you can just spread some toys around and let them go to town.

For us, it was a million times easier. Not only for me, but for them! They were not as fussy since they could do more things. It made reading, playing, talking, everything easier. They seemed more content, and for longer periods of time.

Oh man oh man you are about to hit the ultimate "grace period" as I like to think of it. When they can FINALLY sit up and SEE THE WORLD for themselves, reach toys and play happily!! BUT they CANT MOVE yet! LOL It is so nice because they can reach their own toys and be content for so much longer than before AND THEY STAY WHERE YOU PUT THEM (for the most part) :D !! I love the stage between sitting and crawling! Enjoy it!

I'm actually loving it too. Caleb is content to sit and reach for his little toys for several minutes at a time. I would love to say that I use this time to get things done, but most of the time I just stare at him and how absolutely adorable he looks sitting up being a big boy. He's very aware of his body and its limits so I don't have to worry about him plunging forward or backwards. Braxton on the other hand, is his fearless leader who will jump right out of your arms if you let him. He throws himself all about when he sits so I much prefer to have him on his tummy. I wouldn't call it "easier" with him.

I would have to agree 100%. It is also a lot easier when you're carrying them and you can just lean over and put them down anywhere and you don't have to worry about them falling over. Then comes crawling and they don't stay anywhere you put them!

I also would not say easier but definitely more fun! All the fun things come with the sitting up!

Honestly, every stage has gotten easier and easier. This is the most excellent self-entertaining phase! Yippee!

It was great. I always tell people that's when I started having more fun -- when they could sit up.

Though, FWIW, I thought it got even better when they could crawl, and then even better when they could walk.

I do think it got easier when they could sit well - for awhile I had pillows all over my living room to help protect against headbutting the hardwood floor. But, once they could sit well, I could surround them with toys and then go cook dinner or whatever and they were content. No more flipping them from front to back, running and doing something for two minutes before they got fussing, going back, flipping them over, so on and so forth.

    Have fun!

It really did get easier. One of my sons was content to sit with toys for ages and had no interest in crawling or standing for a while. That was bliss! The other went from sitting to crawling pretty quickly. So enjoy it while it lasts!

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much easier. IMO it was the EASIEST time ever with them up until now. They were able to sit on their own (no more crying for me to hold them up...AT THE SAME TIME), I could put some toys in front of them and because they weren't crawling yet, I could be in the kitchen watching them and getting stuff done and not worry about a thing. It was great and I have always said that that was a huge turning point for me in terms of things getting easier.

Much much easier! They were so happy when they finally learned to sit on their own. They'd just sit and play with toys beautifully.

Crawling is a huge bonus too - keeps them busy! They just love to explore! (And as long as your house is reasonably baby-proof, it's no trouble.)
