I've been having trouble lately getting them to eat! 1st bottle at around 7am is no trouble; they gulp it down & usually are ready for a 2nd one about 3 hrs later. After that, it's like a fight the rest of the day to get them to eat. Around the right times, they'll cry like they're hungry and I fix bottles like normal. But they'll only eat about 4 oz and then start thrashing around, looking all over the room, and no more interest in eating. Food & baby food, on the other hand, they'll always eat.

I'm going to ask the pedi on Mon about this (they've got baby checks) but I wanted to get all your feedbacks. Do they start weaning back on bottles at this age? Seems early to me. [IMG]

I had this exact same thing happen and called our pedi. He said it's perfectly normal at this age because they're solid intake is increasing. He said the normal range for formula intake goes to between 20 to 28 oz. up to 36 oz. per day starting around now (depending on the baby).

I was going to post this exact question this morning! It's why I logged on. Same problem here. They don't want their formula at all. They each might have one good bottle a day, with the rest all being an ounce, maybe two or three. They just want their baby food/oatmeal. My girls have never been big drinkers to begin with, normal for us was anywhere between 20 - 24 ounces per day. Now, since this new rejection of formula, they are at around only 10-12 ounces per day!

    Doesn't that seem really low?

Robyn-That does seem low, I would call the ped and maybe back off the solids a little.

I have been having the same problem. Their first bottle and their last bottle of the day they drink down, then in the afternoon they will drink 2-3oz and get distracted. The will eats LOTS of solids, the more the better [IMG]. Tonight they for dinner they ate three jars of food, one had oatmeal in it, and they had a teething biscuit. I could believe they ate so much. Little piggys!

Sounds normal! They don't need quite as much formula now that they are having other food.....

mine are doing the same thing. they suck down the first bottle and then about 3 hours later they will take about 6oz. after that they really don't take another full bottle until bed. they eat cereal and fruit at lunch and veggies and fruit at dinner. they are gaining weight fine, i think that it is just the natural way that they start to drop bottles.

Mine did the same thing when they were getting their top teeth in. They would eat solids but didn't want to suck on the bottle (except in the mornings when they were starving). Could teething be a possiblitly?
