How much do your 8 month olds nap

I just got all three of my kids to sleep, hoping for maybe 45 minutes of heaven, but literally 5 minutes after I sat down (with 23 points of low fat ice cream!!) the babies woke up. I fear the 2 hour nap is a thing of the past. They slept about 1:30 in the am (for my mom while I worked) and now about 1:15.

I'm worried they are not getting enough sleep. I'm wondering, what should I expect in total between the two naps for sleep?

My kids are very close to yours in age and they are not great nappers. Never have been. They usually take 3 naps of 30 minutes each, and not always at the same time. At night, they go 6 p.m. - 6 a.m. with hardly a peep. So I try not to complain. It is a long day though when I am home with them (I work).

I keep hoping that maybe someday when we are on 3 regular solid meals a day (we are working towards that), they will just go to two longer naps.

Good Luck and if you figure something out let me know!

Honestly- it depends on which twin you're talking about in this house. B NEEDS sleep- and he regularly takes LONG naps, we're talking 3+ hours, plus he sleeps solidly through the night. He often needs 3 naps a day as well. J on the other hand, not so much and he's perfectly happy w/out as much sleep. He's not crankier or anything. I'm lucky if I can get 2 one hour naps out of him, and he always wakes up once during the night and gets up before his brother. But there are still days, he'll take one of those 3 hour naps right along w/ his brother. So for us, it just depends on the kid, and what his needs are.

My babies wake up at 6:00 AM , go down for a nap from 8:00 or 8:30 to 10:00AM. Then they sleep from 12 noon or 1PM (depending) to about 2:30PM. Then they go to sleep again at 6:30 or 7:00 sharp! They sometimes wake up in the middle of the night though so they may be sleeping too much in the day. Goodluck and HTH

Mine are 10 mo and used to do a few hours in morning and afternoon. Gradually, that got shorter and now, I'm lucky if I get an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. I know what it's like to get all 3 down at the same time. HEAVEN! :)

At that age mine were sleeping about 11 hours at night and anywhere from 2-3.5 (total, between the two naps) during the day.

My two have been pretty regular the past few months(since about 7/8 months)...they sleep 12 hours at night. With usually a 1 to 1.5 hour nap in the morning and a 1.5 hour nap in the afternoon. Before then they were only sleeping 30 minutes at a time. It was when they started STTN that naps started to work out.

At that age, my kids were sleeping about 11-12 hours at night and take two naps during the day. AM nap is 1 hr - 1 1/2 and PM nap is about 2 hours.

I'm very happy if I get an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. I've heard of these mythical babies who sleep 2 hours in the morning and another 2 in the afternoon but they don't live at my house. I just do my best to be consistent and facilitate sleep and I've learned not too stress too much about it. I made myself crazy trying to extend naps around here for months...there's only so much you can do. My guys do 11 to 12 hours at night.

Thanks for all your input. BTW, in my post I said I had "23 points" of ice cream. Should have read "2". Anyone who is on weight watchers must think I'm crazy-that would be all my points for the day and then some. Had to LOL when I read my own post.

It sounds like I must be expecting too much sleep from them. After I posted, I picked up one baby, and thought I'd let the other hang out, and she fell asleep and ended up having a 2.5 hour nap! Go figure. I think I do have one who needs less sleep. I'll just try to grab her out of the room earlier when she wakes. Thanks again.

My gals sleep about 12-13 hours at night. During the day:

    8-9

    11-12:15

    2:15-3:30

    15 1/2-16 1/2 hours per day

I'm hoping they will go down to 2 naps soon.

    They are 8 months old.

At 8 months my girls were still taking 3 naps a day (now at 10 months its usually 2, but sometimes they do take a 3rd nap).

At 8 months they slept 10-11 hrs at night and then took 2.5-4 hours of naps during the day (1-2 hours in morning, 1ish hours after lunch, and 1ish hours after 4pm bottle). I have one great napper (put her in the crib, she smiles and pops her thumb in her mouth and falls asleep!), and one fussy napper (she just has to get out that extra energy before she rolls over, buries her head in her hands and falls asleep). GL!

Naps? What naps! If I can get 20 mins every 2 or 3 days, I'm in 7th heaven! Wish I had nappers, but at least they sleep through the night. DS #2 didn't nap at all until 14 months. And that was after a head injury. I think the napping helped him heal. The twins seem to be taking after their big brother. Joy! ;)
BTW: I'm listening to them cry after they were silent for all of maybe 10 mins. I'll keep trying, maybe they'll get the picture sometime soon.

My twins are almost 8 months and are on a (usually) 3 naps a day routine. They get up between 5:30 and 6 and go down for their first nap around 8am. my son will sleep for anywhere from 30min - 2 1/2 hours depending on his teething right now, my daughter will usually stay down for at least 1 1/2 hours, usually not longer than 2.
The same thing happens again about 2 - 2 1/2 hours later. the third nap is tricky though, and are starting to skip it a bit more often. I get them to bed between 6 and 7. They sleep until around 5 before starting to stir. (I am not happy with this early wake up time; we didn't make the shift well for daylight savings, and they've been waking up early ever since; they used to sleep until 7... and that was with the same bedtime.

Every day is different for us. Lately (like the last week) I have been letting them stay up for closer to 3 hours between naps and they have been giving me a good 1.5-2 hour nap in the morning and usually at least an hour in the afternoon, sometimes more. It was taking me so long to get them to sleep that I figured they were ready to be up a little longer and it has worked really well.

My son takes a good 1-1.5 our nap in the AM and 30-1 hour in the PM...

My daughter gives me - TROUBLE! Every nap she hates but she needs it, however i can say she has never required or watned the sleep Beau has... He is happy to sleep, he gets that from me. She is not, she gets that from daddy. LOL...

Her naps are the big topic of our house lately. LOL... Good luck...
