i was wondering what the typical cost of formula for twins are (if bought formula at costco) for a month

and how do you get a bm baby to like formula. (thinking of supplimenting, but so far they refuse the taste)

Mine get about 15 oz of bm/day and another 10-15 oz of formula. So about half and half. We spend about $35/week with no coupons on formula for the big container of Enfamil Lipil.

I guess I was fortunate that my babies really took to formula quite easily. They're bottle babies to begin with (I've exclusively pumped for them since NICU) and it was no big deal. We started supplementing around 2 months.

oh gosh... my guys were always supplemented (thanks NICU  ) but in the beginning they used a small can a week. They also had EBM.

Now, we go through about almost 3 cans per week, but I stopped pumping around 9 months.

And it cost all depends on what kind of formula- our guys had to have Alimentum, so that's several hundred dollars a month.

We were going through 2 of the super-size cans of soy formula about every 12 days. I calculated up for the whole year based on that and it was about $1,300. Of course it may have been a little more because I can't remember if we ever went through it faster than that.

I used to buy the large can from Sam's. It costs about $20 per canister and it would last about 3 weeks (when I was supplementing). I would mix formula and bm in the bottle. Starting with more bm than formula (4 oz bm and 2 oz formula) until they were taking half and half in each of their bottles and then would bf when I was home with them.

When they went to straight formula (at about 8.5 months), we would use one large Sam's choice canister every 7-10 days (of course mine were not big eaters...taking in 24-28 oz on most days).

At 6 months we stopped EBM, and spent $125/month on the Costco/Kirkland brand formula.

We use a large 900g can of Kirkland formula every 3-4 days. I'm canadian so prices are probably a little different but I figured it out to be around $120.00/month. If I used exclusively Good start it would be double that!! My bubbas are 20lbs and 18.5 lbs so it definitely hasn't bothered them, lol. Sorry can't help you with the ebm issue though.

We are exclusive formula feeders, we go through a big can of Similac Soy every 3 days or so. The babies each drink 24-32 ounces a day. We figured between diapers, babyfood, and formula we spend about $90 a week.

At the height of formula-consumption we were going through a big can of powder (35oz I think) every 3 days. Each can costs $35 at BJs so it was about $350/month. Now its less since they drink less! And hopefully at our 12 month app in 2 weeks we'll be given the green light to start switching to milk. What will I do with all that money?!?!?

Sorry I can't help you with BM since I pumped for a month and only got about 1-3oz PER DAY! That was after meeting with 3 LCs and having a hospital-grade pump. Ouch.

I would buy a case of cans of Similac Soy once a month (6 cans of powdered) and that was $130

We go through one big can of Enfamil Lipil from Sam's per week which is about $20 I think.

Ditto Sully -- mine have gotten about half EBM and half formula since the beginning. They were on Neosure for 6 months, which costs about $15.99 for the small can -- I never found it cheaper or in bulk anywhere. We used up a can every few days (never really kept track).

At 6 months, we switched to Good Start, which is $25 for a large can at the grocery store -- again, it lasts for a few days. And, I've never seen it at Sam's Club.

Same here, with the half bm and half formula. We use Parent's Choice formula. It's cheaper and they seem to like it.

My girls were exclusively breast fed until six months and then I started supplementing with formula. I slowly added formula to bottles of breast milk over the course of a couple of weeks to get them used to the taste. I found that my girls liked their formula hotter than bottles of breast milk.

I'd like to have had it that way, but I can't produce enough to feed two babies at 4-5 oz each every three hours. You are lucky

I BF mostly, but supplement a bit with neosure, This was the nicu, specialized formula for "preemies". My ped wrote a prescription and my ins. covers it for 1 year w/out a copay. If you have preemies ask your ped---it could save big $ if you're going to bottle feed.

We have WIC so we don't pay anything for our formula. We have never used all of it for one month. I still have 8 cases (condensed) that we haven't even gotten to yet. Have you tried to get WIC?

I use Good Start Cultures B for Katelyn and Good Start Soy Lactose Free for Madelyn. Both of my girls go through a 25oz can in 5-6 days - each can cost $25.00 - so we average about $250.00 - $300.00 a month in formula for both girls. It's pretty pricey. :(

My boys would only take ready to feed due to reflux issues. They typically ate 32 oz a day, so we have spent approx $300 a month on formula.

THANK GOD THEY ARE GOING TO BE ONE SOON!! :D

We use Parent's Choice Gentle. It's about $15/canister. We use a canister every 3 days. DS drinks 40+ oz/day and DD drinks 32+. We figure we spend about $180 per month.

I finally got WIC :p After months of people telling me to apply because I did not think that I qualified, well it turns out that I do! and I was so happy to get those checks, I get 18 case of formula a month, so I save a WHOLE lot on Similac Advance for DS and Isomil for DD. Everyone should try! you don't know unless you try.
