how many total oz do or did your 5-months old eat each day, on average?

Also - how many feedings is that split into?

Appreciate this informal poll, need to settle a debate with husband as to whether mine are eating enough... thanks!!

The boys are eating about 27 total ounces a day. Plus one solid meal. They eat..
    6am...6oz
    10am...6oz
    1pm...solid and 3oz
    5pm...6oz
    9pm...6oz
    then bedtime...no night feedings anymore.

At 5 months mine were taking 5 bottles during the day at 2 at night. I dont remember the total number of ounces, but they were always on the high end.

Ours were getting 5 8oz bottles a day plus one solid. So about 40oz in one day.

    Mine are 4 1/2 months...

    6 Feedings:

    7am - 5 oz.
10am - 4 or 5 oz (just started rice cereal...but not eating anything substantial yet)
    1pm - 4 or 5 oz
    4pm (snack) - 3 oz.
    6:30pm - 6 oz to 8 oz.
    1 nighttime feeding around 2am - 6 oz.

Roughly between 28 and 30 oz per day.

Mine were only doing 4 1/2 - 5 oz bottles 5 times a day, they were gaining perfectly fine and doctors said that was fine. They would also get cereal in the morning and fruit at lunch and veggies at dinner.

At 5 months, my two were taking six bottles daily, 4-6 ounces per feed. I'd say their average formula intake was around 28 oz. at that age. We weren't doing solids consistently at that time.

    5am between 4-7oz
    10am between 4-7oz
    3pm between 4-7oz
    8pm between 4-7oz

we are experimenting w/solids at the moment and are currently taking a few day break to make sure their were no issues w/the last food we tried but when the solids are in it's a veggie at 5pm, 1 jar for both babies.

mine are teething and have TONS of saliva in their bellies and often refuse bottles because they are full of spit.

we also add 2tsp rice cereal per oz of formula.

their refusal to eat or taking smaller amounts hasn't slowed down their weights as they seem to gain a full pound each time we go to the pedi. so no one is concerned with their eating schedules.

Mine were eating like this at 5 months:

    6am - 7-8 oz
    10am - 7-8 oz
    2pm - 7-8 oz
    5pm - 3 oz "snack"
    7pm - 10 oz

So about 34 oz a day. They were 18 pounds.

They are actually still eating the same at close to 7 months but now have 2 solid meals added to that.

I believe the intake of formula really depends on baby's weight and the "phase" they are in. Mine went through crazy hunger and absolute rejection of milk and I attribute that to growth spurts.

As long as they are gaining weight they should be fine. My pedi recommended that if baby finishes, let's say 5 oz three times in a row - start putting in 6 oz. Increase subsequently. That's what we did.
