I am astounded at how much my boys have started eating. I'm glad that I have good eaters, but I need a reality check...maybe I have unrealistic expectations of what's normal?

Here's what we put away for bfast this morning (split between the 2 of them):

    *banana
    *1 cup of dry kix
    *4 silver dollar pancakes
    *hasbrown patty
    *1/4 cup blueberries
    *3/4 cup mango

Oh my goodness that is a lot! I need to get my boys busy on eating more food!

    For breakfast mine usually eat:

4 oz. cup of applesauce with oatmeal mixed in it. My DS will usually eat 1/2 slice of toast and DD usually about 1/2-3/4 of a pancake (frozen regular size).

For lunch the other day they each had a yogurt and 2 grilled cheese between the 2 of them. Along with some dried fruit and crackers.

You're boys just sound like big eaters. I think they are fine.

My girls' appetites are big some days and smaller others. This morning they each ate two regular sized pancakes, split a nutrigrain bar and drank about 6 oz of milk. Some mornings they would also want fruit and/or yogurt in addition to a cereal bar and pancakes. I think at this age you're still supposed to feed them until they don't want anything else.

It totally depends. Mine don't eat that much, but I've seen posts from lots of other people whose kids do. As long as they are healthy & happy, it's all good!

FWIW, for breakfast mine usually eat (I had to divide it by child since they eat totally different things, although they get offered all the same stuff):

Sarah: 1/2 cup yogurt, 1/2 piece toast, occasionally a few bites of fruit, 1 oz milk

Amy: 1 scrambled egg, as much fruit as we have available (up to a cup!), 1/2 piece toast, 1-2 oz milk

Mine eat cheerios and yogurt and Milk in the mornings. They usually eat a lot of cheerios and about one yogurt a piece.

Wow, that is a lot! I wish mine ate that well.

Mine eat 1-2 containers of yogurt, cheerios, 1/2 a piece of cinnamon toast, and 2-4 ounces of milk each morning. Lately, since they were sick and lost some weight, I've been putting a scoop of formula in the yogurt.

Mine have their good eating days and their not so good. Today they are eating a lot to make up for yesterday when they refused to eat much of anything (day after their 12 month shots).

I'm not worried about how much they eat...just surprised that they have become such eager eaters after months of coaxing them to drink their bottles.

I'm actually quite relieved. I was soooo neurotic about how much they had consumed and if they met their "quota". I'm totally OCD, and 3 weeks in the NICU was all I needed to be a raving "Bottle Nazi" for 11 months.

It's nice to see that kids are all over the board on their appetites and still all active & healthy toddlers. [IMG]

12-15 months I refer to as the "feasting time". They ate everything that wasn't nailed down. Imagine my surprise at their 15 month appointment when they were still on their same old 3-5% growth curve.

Just remember, it does end and sometimes rather abruptly. Don't freak out when it does because at their 18 month appointment, my boys were still on that growth curve in spite of seeming to eat barely anything.

Sounds like a lot, but you've got boys! I have little boys really put away the food! My girls ate more for entertainment at that age (they were still on breastmilk though), mostly finger foods, cottage cheese, cheese and other soft veggies pieces plus cheerios. They still don't eat a lot and they are FOUR!

It sounds like my boys. I can't even tell you how much they eat because they usually finish their brothers breakfast too. I hope they reach 20# at their year appt on Monday. This weekend their grandfather took them to McDonalds and they each ate a cheeseburger fully loaded, some fries, and ice cream(they don't usually get that, it was a special day). They are pigs.
How much did they weigh at their 1 year appt?

    Cari -

We actually haven't had our 1 year apt. yet. Our pedi is starting his own practice and left the current office 4 days before we turned one. We couldn't make the apt. early b/c they won't give the MMR shot unless they are officially 12 months. We REALLY love our pedi so we are waiting for his new office to open (not until mid-late April). I'm anxious to find out their official weights, but since nothing is really an issue at this time I didn't feel I needed to schedule with the other docs at his old office.

Anyway...long story to your question...if I had to guess, I'd say Nick is 21-22 lbs. and Joe is 19-20 lbs.
