just wondering if singleton weight has any bearing on how much my twins will weigh at birth. my 2 singletons were 6'14 and 7'3
what do you think my twins will be? aren't they usually one to 2 pounds lighter than your singletons?
they are monochorionic (identical) as well- does that make any difference?

My older DS was born at 38w 2d and weighed 7lbs 1oz.

My twin boys (mono-di) were born at 35w 1d and weighed 5lbs 11oz and 5lbs 7oz. Had my MFM allowed me to keep going (she scheduled the c-section due to growth concerns), I think they would have been pretty close in weight to my older DS.

My older DD was born full term on her due date at 40 weeks. She was 8.7. She was pudgey her first year and then really slimmed out.

My twins are frat girls born at 34w6d due to pre-e and HELLP. They were 4.14 and 4.4 respectively. They grew very quickly and were average to small in the last 2 years.

At 28 months, they're both on the smallish side but so is my older DD. Corinne (6) is around 39 pounds, Annalise is 25 and Jilly is 27.

Not sure. My oldest DD (singleton) was born at 41 weeks and weighed 9 lbs 4 oz. My twins were born at 25 and almost 27 weeks. My full term singleton pregnancy did not help my twin pregnancy.

My oldest was 9lbs2oz and almost 22 inches. I was 9 days late, went into labor naturally. My twins were induced at 38w2d, they were 7lbs11oz and 7lbs10oz and both 20 inches. My oldest was born 3 weeks later than my twins (41w2d vs 38w2d), I think they basically grew at the same rate but the twins were just born 3 weeks earlier compared to my oldest.

    DS1: 41 wks, 2 days; 9 lbs, 8 oz

    DS2: 39 wks, 4 days; 7 lbs, 8 oz (induced)

girls: 37 wks, 1 day; 6 lbs, 13 oz; 6 lbs, 9 oz (planned c/s because I ran out of space).

Left to their own devices all my babies would have been between 8 & 9 lbs when I went into labor naturally. DS1 was even bigger, but he was born at sea level. Higher altitude makes for slightly smaller babies (DS2 was at 6000 feet). I was scheduled for a c/s with DS2, who was breech, but he turned in the night and I was induced instead. Women in my family tend to carry late and have larger infants.

My singleton (girl) was 7 lbs, 7 oz at 41 weeks.

The twins were 7 lbs, 3 oz (boy) and 6 lbs, 1 oz (girl) at 37 weeks. If we had gone to 40 weeks, the boy would probably have been much larger than my singleton and the girl would have been about equal.

I ate lots of protein while pregnant with the twins, which I think helped bulk up their birthweights.

    Ds2 and DS3... 6lb, 12 oz and 5lbs, 10oz at 37 weeks

So DS 2 was even bigger than my singleton at a week earlier!

I thought they would all follow the same suit, until I went into preterm labor with the twins. I had my oldest at 41 weeks. He was 10 lbs 10 oz! He was a totally shock, and thus a c/s. Because of his size, my next son was taken earlier by c/s also. He was 9 lbs 9 oz. He would have been just as big. With the twins I went into PTL at 20 wks. On the third Hospital visit they decided they couldn't wait to take them. I was 33 wks 6 days. Baby A was 4 lbs 10 oz and Baby B was 5 lbs. Pretty good sizes for their gestational age. Mine were di/di. And all boys.

oldest daughter was 5 lbs 15 ozs at 36 weeks...we figured she would of been around 8lbs give or take if she would of went to 40 weeks.

The twins...Parker 6 lbs. 4 oz and Taylor 5 lbs 3 ozs at 37 weeks....although Talor started to develop growth issues between 30 -34 weeks that they missed otherwise she would of been larger than Parker. Around 35 weeks is where she really almost stopped growing or at least held on as much as possible. So if you figure they all would of been around the same size at 40 weeks.

:bow2: you grow some big babies...those weights are awesome! :clapping: Is there anything you did that you think helped with their birthweights being so wonderful or do you think it's more genetics? Just wondering as i would think it might be useful info for the expecting ladies on here.

    #1 (girl) - 39.5 weeks, 7 lbs. 11 oz.
#2 (boy) 37 weeks (emergency c-section due to placental abruption), 6 lbs. 11 oz.
    Twins 40 weeks: A (girl), 7 lbs. 12 oz., B (boy) 6 lbs. 15 oz.

So I carried my twins longer than my first two and they were larger than their singleton siblings. No wonder my stomach looks so weird now . . .

Wow I am amazed at these weights!!!
I think I need to return all my newborn stuff. My dd was 8.5 at 38 weeks.
I think that my twins will be decent size and I dont forsee having them too early-but ya never know.

I have no idea if there is a relationship between singleton birth weights and that of twins. Maybe there would be in a di/di pregnancy with no complications that delivers at 38-39 weeks?

FWIW, my singleton was 9 lb 9 oz at almost 42 weeks and the twins were 3.15 and 5.3 at 35.3 weeks

My singleton was born at 41 weeks and weighed 7.3 lbs.
My twins were born at 38 weeks and weighed 7 lbs and 5.11 lbs.

My doctor was most interested in how far along I was when I delivered my singleton. His feeling was that if I made it full-term with my singleton without any complications, I had a better chance going full-term with the twins.

My Di/di twins born at 31 weeks with some possible IUGR were 3 pounds and 2 pounds 13.
My singleton daughter born at almost 42 weeks weighed 6 pounds 2 ounces. She weighed more than both of the twins put together and still looked tiny to me!

I am a small woman (5 foot 2) and everyone thought my daughter would be over 9 pounds because I looked huge (except the midwife, she always told me that that wasn't a large baby).
