So as I am approaching the beginning of my third trimester, I am wondering how much bigger I can possibly get. I know that my babies need to get at least 5X bigger than they are right now, I also know that they will get more squished in there, but should I still expect to double in size?? Is that even possible?

I already outgrew all my Large sized maternity clothes and wearing Xtra Larges, which look big and baggish, but nothing else fits!!

Just when I thought it was impossible to get bigger...I got bigger :)
It sure is amazing isn't it???!!
I think that I stayed about the same in the final 2-3 weeks before my c-section though.
    Hang in there!!!

I just bought tents to wear, LOL! At 6 mo, people started saying, "Having that baby any day now?" By the end (37w5d), I was as big as a house... or felt like it. My skin at the bottom of my belly started tearing. My insides didn't spill out, LOL, but it was totally different than the stretchmarks that were everywhere else. It really was quite painful, and I lathered Vit E oil on it constantly. I don't know that I was twice as big as at 6 mo, but I was very big and literally couldn't roll over on my own if I were laying down.

I was shocked at how much bigger I got. At 29 weeks (which I happen to remember because I spent a night in the hospital), I felt and looked huge, but I could still move around fairly well, and I thought "This isn't so bad." Then I continued to gain 1-2 lbs a week (I gained a total of 70  ) until about 34 weeks. It slowed down after that, and I don't think I grew much after 35 weeks -- I delivered at 37.

I was also wearing XL maternity clothes (and I'm normally a size 8). I couldn't even wear maternity pants that were structured at all, like jeans or khakis -- the only pants I wore were a pair of men's XXL sweatpants (rolled up at the bottom) and some stretchy yoga-type maternity pants from Target. None of that cute baby belly for me -- I just looked like a house with feet. And as PP said, I could barely roll over or get up without help. Sorry -- just remember that it's temporary, even when it doesn't feel that way.

Just like Tamara said, just when you think your belly can't get any bigger, it really does! Our bodies are amazing, and your body will be able to do it. :good: Clothes wise, by the end I was wearing XXL/XXXL shirts. They weren't stylish or anything but they covered me up!!

Yeah, the "maternity" clothes on the market are so laughable to me now. Heck, a lot of them were barely maternity for singleton pregnancies! I'm down to just a couple of pieces that actually still fit. In fact, I just had to upgrade to XL pants this morning, too, and they look ridiculous. And forget any of the maternity jeans. Useless. All stretchy yoga pants now. Thank GOD I garment SEW for a hobby. I actually DO know how to alter a pattern to adapt to this so-called "body"...now if only I had the time or energy!

I've been wondering exactly how big I can get, too! Everything just feels like it's going to explode already. And my babies are super-active. The other night I had a dream that Baby B pushed on my belly and I could see all of the bones in his hand and that's pretty much how I feel! I try not to think about my future growth too much or I just want to run down the street screaming (yeah, like I could even walk briskly down the street). And at my last dr. appt, my usually-encouraging ob did mention that my belly should grow to 50-52 wks in size before we're done. Believe it or not, I didn't find her all that encouraging that day.

Well, so far I haven't heard of anyone springing a leak and flying around the room backwards, so I guess we're all just going to continue to streeeeeetch, huh.......

    ugh.

I can't even imagine how much bigger I am going to get. After talking to a few twin moms I bought some dresses for the 3rd trimester. Old Navy has a maternity maxi dresses and I got it in both colors. I figure at the end I may be living in it, but atleast it will cover my belly.

The elastic on my maternity jeans (which did me to the end of my last pregnancy) just broke! :FIFblush: Hopefully the skin at the bottom of my belly won't follow suit! :rotflmbo:

I have gotten sooo much bigger, and I agree with the earlier post, they need twin maternity clothes, all of my regular maternity clothes are too small now!!

i thought that i was going to end up huge, but instead seem to be all belly. im still wearing the maternity pants my DH dragged me to get at 22 weeks, paired with baggy t shirts. And here i was sure i was going to be living in mu mu's by now.
