How Much Baby Food?

Discussion in 'The First Year' started by [email protected], Aug 11, 2007.

I was just wondering how much baby food your little ones are eating. My twinkies are 7 months and eating a stage 2 fruit with oatmeal around 10 a.m. and then they share a stage 2 veggie with rice around 5 p.m. I was just curious to see if they should be eating baby food 3 times a day and also if you feed them any of the baby food deserts. I've checked them and they seem to have sugar, has anyone found any that doesn't?

We were on three meals a day at 6 months but we started solids at 4, so it varies. It sounds like they are eating a good amount. What does your pedi recommend?

I never did desserts. I have a fussy eater and if she gets a taste of something she likes, it's hard to steer her toward anything else. So I stuck with plain veggies and fruits. I did do the combo fruits, but never desserts.

My 7 monthers are eating 3 times a day. For breakfast they usually share a stage 2 container. For lunch and dinner they will eat their own stage 2 container. Usually what I do is take a main course container (oatmeal w/applesauce for breakfast) and either a fruit (breakfast) or veggie container and mix the two together. that way the girls are getting all their fruits/veggies along with their main course, still in one stage 2 container.

I have fed them the desserts, I try to look more for the fruity/healthy ones like Mango or Orange Medley. Not sure if they have sugar as I really didn't look. I've fed them the vanilla custard one once I think...

my pedi suggested that they each eat at least 4-8 tblspns. of rice cereal a day AND 3 jars of stage 2 (fruit, veggie, meat) baby food + at least 20 oz. of formula.

We're doing pretty much the same thing you are right now. They usually share a stage two jar at each feeding and I try to get some of the rice cereal or oatmeal into them which doesn't always work, because they think it's nasty! If they seem interested in more, I'll give them a little more. We didn't start solids until 6 months, so we're still getting the hang of this!

Our girls are eating 3x a day
Breakfast I mix a fruit with their rice or oatmeal -- it's less messy since it's thicker and they like the cereal better that way.
After naptime they'll share a Stage 2 Fruit or veggie.
Dinner they eat off our plates (mashed potato, smooshed carrot or bean, rice -- whatever) if we eat something they can have and/or they each eat about a Stage 2 of veggie or fruit.

I haven't bought the desserts because I'm worried about the lack of nutrition.
