I was giving 3oz with some cereal and today dd ate 6oz with cereal for lunch and for dinner! And I felt like she would have ate more if I had offered but that seemed like alot and I didn't want her getting sick. I am just wondering what it the max others will allow as far as total baby food per sitting. Thanks.

My boys just turned 9 months old and they will each eat 2 stage 2 jars of food mixed with cereal for lunch and dinner. Plus they also get some finger foods to keep them busy in between bites. I swear I sit at the table for at least 45 minutes feeding them until I call it quits and know that they are getting bottles too. It's rare that they will be done before me-they have a bottomless stomach!

My boys are just over 6 months. I started them on cereal at 5 months and fruit and veg just couple of weeks ago. I give them solids twice a day. I give them cereal (rice, barley or oatmeal) - about 6 heaping teaspoons mixed with lots of formula or water - I've never measured it, it's probably 1/2 a cup? PLUS up to four ice cubes of fruit or veg - divided by two kids. I feel like they eat a lot. I've never filled them up - I just stop feeding because I'm worried they'll pop! It hasn't affected their intake of milk much - they're still taking 4 seven-ounce bottles a day.

I'm glad you posted this because I've been worried about how much I should be feeding them. My boys are over 20 lbs each and very tall.

(not including bottles- just solids here. we do botltes/cups 3-4x/day)
    breakfast:
    1/4 cup cereal
1/2 banana- some mashed, some cut up so they can finger feed
*every other day they split an egg yolk
*sometimes instead of cereal, they split a waffle

    lunch:
    1/4 cup cereal
1 tub of stage 2 veggie (each)
1-2 tbsp pureed beans or tofu
*used to give shredded cheese, but DD was spitting up mid aftrnoon, pedi suggested to stop it, and she is no longer spitting up!

    dinner:
    2-3 tbsp yogurt
*sometimes mixed wit tahini or wheatgerm
1 tbsp. mashed avocado withi tofu cubes
1 tub of stage 2 fruit (each)
some type of finger food- gerber puffs, zwiebeck, teething biscuit

    i always offer water too.
mine are 10.5 months and we added the third meal almost 2 months ago.

Bottles we are 3-4 per day about 8oz each they will usually finish around 24oz a day
    Meals
Breakfast we have 7-8 tbspoons of cereal and a jar of fruit (shared)
Lunch we have three jars of food or 2 jars of food and a yogurt
Dinner we have three jars of food or 2 jars and a yogurt

They will usually finish all of their jars of food at each meal and seem quite satisified so I have not increased at all.

Shannon, what size or what stage are the jars you are feeding them? Sheryl, what size jars/tubs do you start with? Do you go through the whole thing in one sitting? I am probably the only one who knows exactly because we see a GI specialist and I tell them exactly what they are eating. So you are not doing anything wrong. But I'm sure you must know how many tubs/jars you go through and it is marked on it how much food is in them.

The jars are 128ml (4.5fl oz) and they are doing three per meal or a yogurt in place of a jar and the yogurt is 100gm size so the little tubs. They are stage two foods mostly. And yes we will go thru the whole thing in one sitting.

At 10 months mine were eating the Stage 3 jars, both eating one jar a piece, and if they still acted hungry, I would mix up some cereal as well.

    Thanks Shannon!

I guess I was behind the 8 ball, since now dd is eating 1 stage 3 jar and cereal 3x a day. I had no idea that was the norm. I wish someone would tell you these things. Ds seems ok but since there is a weight gain issue and a not tolerating too much food issue in the past, I am going to see if he will eat a little more gradually.

I honestly just gave them food until they seemed uninterested and kept track of how much they ate. That way I was always upping the ante.
