We're transitioning to one nap. I'm just curious how many hours your kids are awake between periods of sleep. My two are so crabby in the morning now, but they are actually awake less time then than they are between the nap and bedtime. Yesterday's schedule was this:

    7:30 a.m. wake
    9:30-11:00 super crabby and tired
    11:00 lunch
    11:30-2:30 nap
    7:30 p.m. bedtime

They are only actually awake for 3.5 hours before a nap and they are so tired and cranky for half of that time. They are awake for 5 hours in the afternoon/evening and are generally happy during that time. I'm just wondering if this is typical for others on one nap too.

Now, they wake up around 7:30am and go down for nap at 12:30 pm (so 5 hrs.). However, I can remember when we first went to one nap they were ready to go down at around 11 or 11:30. It took them awhile to get use to it. I use to call 10:30-11:30 hell hour around our house because they would get so fussy right before lunch. I would try to keep them up as long as possible because if I put them down to early that means they would wake up before 2 or 3 pm in the afternoon and our evenings would be rough. Now they have completely gotten use to it (it took a couple of months or so ....I think).

Same as PP usually... but I try to get out of the house around 9.30-10pm and often if they're tired they'll cat nap in the car and it will make it easier to last until 12.30pm.

Mine wake up anytime between 6.30 and 7am. They have lunch around 11.20ish (takes a while to eat) and have a nap at 12. It took a couple weeks but now they're fine with it.

We are still working our way up to napping at noon.

Right now they wake up around 6:30, eat a small lunch at 11 & are down for their nap at 11:30am ~ they eat another small lunch/snack around 2 and then dinner at 5:30'ish.

I am going to slowly try to get them to stay up a little longer in the mornings before that nap so that we can make it till 12 :good:

So I guess their awake time is 5 hours in the morning & about 6 hours in the day before bedtime at 7:30.

Mine get up at 7, nap from noon-1, then stay up until 7 at night. We just transitioned consistently to one nap about 6 weeks ago.

Mine are up at 7:30-8pm, awake until 1pm and nap until 3:30-4 and then in bed by 7:30-8.

Mine were waking up about 9:30am, and going down for a nap at 2:30pm. They slept until 5 or 5:30pm, and then down at night at 10pm.

We've shifted an hour earlier this week because of a therapy program Kevan is doing -- so now they're waking at 8:30am and napping at 1:30pm.

Five hours until nap, either way. But, they've been on one nap for almost 10 months, so they've had time to get used to it!

My boys wake b/t 5:30 & 6:00, nap from 11:45ish to 2:00ish and then go to sleep at 7:30 pm. So, they are up 6 hours in the morning and 5 1/2 hours in the afternoon. When they are at daycare they have no problem with this schedule and they don't get crabby. But, at home on the weekends they sometimes have to take a catnap in the morning to make it through because they will be super ill otherwise.

    Mine wake around 7:00
    Lunch at 11:30 or 12
    Nap by 12:30 - usually 3 hours
    Bed at 7:00

Generally no crabbiness here. A little right before lunch and a little around bedtime but not a lot.

Wake between 6:30-7:00 - Actaully it's been 6:45 on the dot for the past week.
Lunch at 11:30 - sometimes noon depending on what we are doing
Nap at 1:00 for 2-3 hours
    Bedtime 7:15-7:30

Lately if I put them to bed before 7:15, Jake will stay up and talk for over an hour and then the next day he's super crabby.

We went to 1 nap when the turned 12 months, they are now 17 months. It took us a good 4 months to get them to the 1:00 nap time. I just kept adding 15 minutes every few weeks until I got to 1:00. We started with 2 naps; 10:00 & 2:00. Once I got the a.m. nap at 11:00, I cut out their afternoon nap and slowly push the nap forward.

We transitioned around 13 months. Before the transition started, they were napping at 9:00 and 1:00; right before the transition, they were napping at 9:45 and 1:45. (With wakeup around 6:30 and bedtime around 7:30) We moved the one nap to 10:30 first, and they generally slept until 12:30. Wakeup time and bedtime pretty much stayed the same. (We had some bumps though. At times, one would wake up after 45 minutes and I'd go in and rock 'em back to sleep. Some days they went to bed early, etc.) I used a video to keep them entertained and awake at their old naptime for the first few weeks.

After a few months, I began pushing the nap back to 11:00, then 11:30 and then 12:00. I figured out their best naps occur around 11:30, about 5 hours after their wakeup. They generally wake between 6:30-7:00 am, nap from 11:30-1:30, and go to bed around 8:00-8:30 pm.
