Hello!! So the plan is for me to get discharged this Friday if I stay stable over the next few days!!!!! I've been
in the hospital for 8 weeks now!!!! I'm happy to get home, but nervous because my family is too.

I am on pracardia now to help with contractions. What have some of you done? How often did you take it
and how long did you last with it? Meaning weeks- I'm just curious how the serious bed resters handle this at home?

    Any info would be great!

I was on procardia (nifedipine) for two weeks. One in the hospital, one at home. When I was home I didn't do much of anything but lay on the couch. It didn't really do anything to me side effect wise, but I was itchy. I was still having contractions about the time I was due for my next dose, but they were more like BH contractions. I was on 20mg every 4 hours. I stopped taking the pills on March 16th and my girls were born on March 17th. I'm not really sure why they didn't just keep me on it for another two weeks, but they didn't. Hope this is of some help to you.

I was on Procardia for 7 weeks (from 24 weeks on). I took it every 6 hours, and had not problems with it. I was in the hospital from 24-28 weeks, then home from 28-31 weeks, delivered at 31 weeks due to baby A PROM'ing.

i was started on it last friday before i left the hospital. i take 20mg every 4 hours and it does not agree with me at all.my heart races up into the 130s (the nurses saw this at the hospital but i guess its perfectly normal?), i feel jittery and shakey, and sometimes get nasty headaches. the doc told me to take them ever 6-8 hours and see if it helps, but if i take it any more spaced than 4 hours i get contractions every 2-3 min. i dunno if theyre real contractions cuz they dont hurt, just annoying.

I was only on it for a few days and not a "serious" bed rester, but procardia made me feel like crap- my blood pressure dropped scary low and I felt like I was drowning. hope it works for you. at this point, still pg.

I was at the hospital on Saturday night laboring in my back. Well They gave me a Turb. shot and it didn't work. So they gave me procardia. It worked I got sent home with a skript for it. But I haven't had to take any yet. When I was pregnant with my DD I was on it from 32 weeks till I had her at 38 weeks. It didn't seem to bother me any but I was so tired all the time. Sorry I am no help!!! Good Luck!!

Thanks girls! I've been on it since 23 1/2 weeks- so far fine. The dr.'s said they will send me home with it and that
I will be doing the same routine as here. As I get further along though, I am getting very crampy and feel contractions
    more often! Twins???? Ya think--right??

I've been on Procardia for the last week...10 mg every 4 hours. Just feel very calm and sleepy...Of course the 3:00 am dosage may be contributing to that! ;)

Contractions have slowed significantly. Last week in the hospital, it was 4x/hour. Now, at home, I'm getting about 10/day. Hoping now they're just BH since peri said yesterday, no changes in cervix from last week.

Will be on Procardia til delivery.....Keep cooking, babies!!!
