I just found out I am having twins! I am 11 weeks pregnant and I'm wondering when most expecting moms of twins are put on bedrest? So, when were you put on bedrest and why were you put on bedrest?
    Thanks!

    CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy! :a_smil09:

When I found out I was having Twins at 8 weeks - the OB told me to be prepared to go on bed rest around the 8th month.

However, I ended up on bedrest at 14 weeks and was left on bedrest until I delivered. I drove myself crazy at first but then realized that it was for the best. I ended up on bedrest early on because of placenta previa. One of my girls was laying very low on my uterus and she was laying on top of her placenta. That was causing a lot of pressure on my cervix - so I was often spotting. I delivered my girls at 37 weeks. I definitely did a lot of reading and did everything I could to keep myself busy.

I didn't go on bed rest until last week at 32 weeks and 4 days. I was having contractions and had started to dialate. Good Luck with your pregnancy. There are a lot of women who don't have to go on bedrest at all :)

I went on bed rest at 23 weeks and 4 days due to funneling and short cervix. I am now on bed rest at home
until I deliver. I am 32 weeks and 1 day.

in the beginning - I had some bleeding that was a subchorionic hemmorage(SP?) the OB told me that there wasn't much I could do to stop it - just take it easy SO I put myself in the bed at around 11 weeks - for 5 days. I stopped bleeding

    THEN>>>>>>

I went on bedrest at 30 weeks doctors orders - because baby A 's growth had slowed and she had low fluid around her. I delivered at 38 weeks 4 days by scheduled c-section and baby A was actually a tiny bit heavier than her sister!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! on your pregnancy!! twins are SO cool!!!!

Thanks for the reponses. I already look and feel 5 months pregnant. Hopefully I'll still be able to work until 30 weeks, but only time will tell!

Made it all the way to 35 weeks and started out on modified bedrest for elevated blood pressure. This then progressed to the hospital 4 days later for a blood clot we found in my leg and delivered the girls because of that.

I was able to work full time until 34 weeks and only stopped then because of all of the driving one of my part time jobs required. Kept at my other job until they (the docs) yanked me.

GL to you, there are a ton of twin moms on here who didn't do bedrest at all!

Went on modified bedrest at 20 weeks due to lots of contractions. (Modified meant I was able to do something minimal for about an hour a day.) At 32 weeks, I was allowed to be up about 60% of the time. But I've heard of lots of twin Mommies having no bedrest! (I'm so jealous of them! Good luck!!

24w, but that was only because at an appt. the day before it was found my cervix was very short and I was 2cm dilated all of a sudden, and I had an emergency cerclage at that point as well.

I was put on bedrest at about 21 weeks (3 weeks ago) after having to get a surprise cerclage and getting a mild stage I TTTS diagnosis. (I am pregnant with mono/di twins, obviously increasing my chances for high risk pregnancy.)

Many women are able to go without bedrest, and I hope you are one of them!

Congratulations on your twin pregnancy!! Not everyone has to go on bedrest, there are plenty of mommies on TS that made it all the way without it. I was not one of the lucky ones, I went on modified bedrest at 20 weeks for mild contractions, possible PTL, and then I was put on Hospital bedrest at 24 weeks due to complete PTL. Good Luck to you, I hope you have a great, non-eventful pregnancy!!

    Congrats on your twins!!

I was put on bedrest at 28 weeks due to dialation and effacement from a fall on the ice. At 30 wks 6days I was admitted to the hospital for 11 days due to PTL again.

I was just put on bedrest (33wks tomorrow) due to a positive ffn test & contractions that I couldn't even feel. I have had a completely normal pregnancy thus far so I can't really complain. I think I could have made it the whole time if I wasn't running around after my 18mth old all day. Congrats on your twins & take it easy...

Congratulations to you!!! It's great to be prepared for anything with a twin pregnancy...just know there are lots of women who go all the way without any complications!!

I was put on bedrest at 24 weeks for short cervix (1.7 cm), dilation (1 cm) and funneling. I was contracting regularly, too. I'm home now on strict bedrest and take medication (Procardia) every four hours to keep the contractions at bay. I see my OB weekly for a cervical check thru ultrasound and every other week for a ffn test. I still go to the peri every four weeks for a growth scan, which seems pretty standard on this board. (Our babyB has a slight problem with her umbilical cord so we are watching closely.)

Good luck to you!! Here's to an uneventful pregnancy!

Congratulations on your miracles!!! Like pps said, many twin moms don't have to go on bed rest (my mom didn't when she had me and my twin brother and my MIL worked until 4 days before she delivered DH and his twin brother) but some of us need more rest i guess. i've been on strict bed rest since 20 weeks - spent almost 4 weeks of those in the hospital - for shortened cervix (went from 2.2cm at 20 weeks to 1.5cm at 24 weeks and we just decided to stop measuring and checking) and internal funneling. We are looking forward to getting 9 more weeks under our belt and i'm getting out of bed!!!!!!

Congrats on your twins being on their way!

We are at 26 weeks. At 22 weeks the doctor suggested that I lay down for 30 minutes every 2 hours b/c I was so tired all the time and our twins were feeling really heavy, really low. That seems to be working for me. I go back to the OB on Wednesday. If my 30 minute rests are working I won't have to go on full bed rest.

I worked until I went into labor with my daughter. My pregnancy with the twins has been a whole other adventure. Luckily, my husband and I decided a while back that I needed to be a stay-at-home mom to our daughter and any futuer children. I don't think I could hold a full-time job right now. I've been so tired. Of course, some days are better than others.

Just listen to your doctor and your body and you'll be fine.

    Blessings!

Bedrest at 29 weeks then had to be induced at 37 weeks. On bedrest due to PTL however I never dilated (even when they tried to induce me haha).

I was on bedrest at home only supposed to get up to go to bathroom

I was put on bed rest at 30 weeks. It was a shock because everything looked to be going GREAT! Then, at an u/s they discovered that one of my girls had practically stopped growing. With no other symptoms of TTS, I was put on bed rest and go back for NST's and u/s's twice a week! I had another ultra sound today and they discovered that she had grown just a little, but it was still growth.... so I don't have to have a C section tomorrow afterall!!! Am 32 weeks now...

I went on bedrest at 11 weeks after I did CVS and started bleeding. I am going to be on bedrest until I give birth, which is hopefully a long time from now (I am 23 weeks now).
