I am 38 with GD and no other risks. Babies appear healthy and have their own placenta...they are measuring slightly ahead at the same size.

I am 16 weeks along and have had 4 ultrasounds so far. The doctors want to see me every 2 weeks from now on. I think they are monitoring me very very closely but is this normal for twins???

How many ultrasounds have you had? How often to you visit your doc?

I remember I had maybe close to 20 u/s's with the boys! I had one at 6, 8, 10, 13, 16, 17, 18, 22, 26, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38(don't quote me here). The ones in the beginning were with the RE. The ones at the end were because of the BPP's. And from 18 weeks +, they were monitoring the growth of Baby B. As for the OB visits, I saw her every 4 weeks, then every 2 weeks I think at 28 weeks, then every week starting at 32 weeks.

Good luck! I certainly miss the u/s's this go around! I've had 2 thus far and I am going CRAZY!

I am a little further than you and had more ultrasounds than that, my ob did a couple in the beginning just to confim the preg. and viabililty of the pregnacy, now the peri i am seeing wants to see me every 4 weeks till 3rd trimester, than every 2 weeks, until about 32 weeks then everyweek, so i guess you are pretty much on target.

I don't remember exactly how many, but it was a lot! Sounds normal for a twin pregnancy to me.

This is all very interesting. I am 10 weeks and have had 2 already one at 7 and and one at 8. I don't have anymore scheduled that I have been told about but I think that should I have any more problems my dr would do one right?

I had 6 and even turned some down. They weren't sure if I had two placentas fused or one placenta. It did end up being two fused. I didn't find out I was pregnant with twins until 19 weeks though. And I personally didn't want all the u/s. So I probably had a lot less than most.

I had one at 6w (when we found out due to prev m/c), one at 12 w (nuchal fold screening), 17 w (some pressure issues), 20 w (big one), 26 w (growth), 30 w (growth) and 34 w (growth). No medical issues.

I had one at EVERY appointment! OB and peri. I like you, saw the dr every 2 weeks from very early on and around 28 weeks it was once a week and then just a couple weeks later it was twice a week. My girls had their own placentas too.
I had so many with the twins that if I am lucky enough to get pregnant again and it is only one so they only do a couple I will be disappointed!LOL!!

I have had five so far. Here is the timing of them:

    6 weeks - at RE
14 weeks - Growth check at OB
18 weeks - Growth check at OB
    20 weeks - Level 2
    24 weeks - Growth check

Then I will have these coming up....

28 weeks - Next Tuesday will be growth check
32 weeks - Growth check and non-stress test (NST)
33 weeks - Growth check and non-stress test (NST)
34 weeks - Growth check and non-stress test (NST)
35 weeks - Growth check and non-stress test (NST)
36 weeks - Growth check and non-stress test (NST)
37 weeks - Growth check and non-stress test (NST)

So a total of 12 ultrasounds for us.

At 38 weeks we will deliver probably C-Section due to lowest baby being breech. Docs don't think she will move but will monitor.

Oh my, I had a million ... my twins were via IVF ... so my RE did one at 5, 6, 7, and 8 weeks ... then I had one at 9 weeks at my first OB appt ... then 13 weeks for the nuchal fold ... then 17 weeks at my OB, 20 weeks, then it seems like every day weeks there after ...

My OB has an u/s machine in her office ... so every appt it seemed like they were having trouble locating both heartbeats on the doppler (couldn't differentiate) so they would always send me in for a quick u/s ... no complaints here ... i loved seeing them as much as possible!

Oh boy, for me with the biophysicals 2 times a week since 23 weeks and all of the growth scans etc I can't even count anymore. At this point I am getting at least 3 a week....and that's just with the Peri - if I have an OB appt then it's 4....

Don't get me wrong, Ilove seeing my babies but I think I've had enough of the gel now..... :umm:

I've learned that with a twin pregnancy everything is different

My twins are from IVF, and I just had my last RE u/s today! I think that it would have been the same number whether it was twins or not - we had one at 6, 7, 8 & 9 weeks! Now I have a week off before I start with my regular OB. I am not sure what to expect from her. There were no good MFM's at the hospital where I want to deliver, so I'm hoping we can make sure my OB will treat this like the twin/high-risk pregnancy that it is and see us at least 2x a month during the second trimester.

I went to a peri as well as my regular OB. My Peri did a growth u/s at every visit, every 4 weeks. :good: And my OB did an u/s at every visit to hear the heartbeats.

I'm at 18 weeks now. I had one at 6w to date the pregnancy (found out it was twins), 8w, 10w (to check growth of one of the babies), 15w and now 18w due to some bleeding. I have my level II with a peri next week. The other u/s have all been with my OB.

At my first doctor visit (8w) when he saw there were 2 in there, he joked to me about how I was going to be seeing these babies alot and get lots of pictures.

The doctors do a quick scan at every visit (I'm 24 weeks so still on every 4 week schedule right now) to check for fluid levels & heartbeats.

I go to Maternal Fetal Medicine every 4 weeks between those visits right now - and they do the longer growth check ultrasounds; they started every 4 weeks at 20 weeks plus I had the first trimester screen.

I had 2 small incidents of concern which led to 2 additional ultrasounds. So at 24 weeks, I've had 8 so far.

    I'm 28 weeks and have had 4.

One at ten weeks for bleeding (discovery of two heartbeats)
One at fourteen weeks for verification of two heartbeats.
One at sixteen weeks for funsies.
One growth scan at 17 weeks.

Our next growth scan is Feb 2.

I'm okay with this as I personally think that routine ultrasounds are not wise.

  20. I'm not that far along, but I've had one at 6 wks (RE's office), 7 wks (Ob's office), and have my next scheduled at 10 1/2 weeks with my OB. They actually told me at my ob's office that they would do an u/s at every appt. to make sure they saw both heartbeats, that the doppler was not reliable with twins.

    So far I had
    5w, 6w, 7w with RE
and 8w, 10w ( I asked about this one) with OB
12w, 16w, 18w, 20w with peri. ( some of them is just scheduled. at 18w they told me it would be the cervix check I have no idea what does that mean)

In my 31 weeks of pregnancy I had at least 25 U/S's, maybe more. I was high risk.
