How many times can you hear the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" from the Laugh and Learn House before you go clinically insane?

Apparently, one too many... The girls have a baby einstien cd and I HATE it. But it keeps them from yelling at me in the car so I'll continue to listen to it. Over and over and over and over and over.....

ooh... makes for good behavior modification for preteen girls...."If you don't mind me, I'm going to play this cd when you have your sleepover for all your friends."

OMG, we have this Fisher Price Sing-a-long CD in the car, and it's AWFUL! It's adults singing, but acting like they are kids, which is annoying enough. Then every song has them going "That was great! Way to go! You are awesome!" Enough with the affirmations! But of course they love it and ask for it all the time.

[SIZE=10pt]LOL ~ It plays here constantly too :p

I hear it so much that I find myself singing it throughout the day...even when they're napping

Our noisy toys magically stop working every now and then. :spiteful: Then after a few days I will pop the batteries back in.

We have one of those FP cd's too.

With all such questions, I've found that after a certain point, I don't even notice it anymore. It's like the part of my brain that processes that song just goes numb.

The one that drives me CRAZY is the "Count-ing, count-ing, count-ing is such fun...." I think we've got three different toys that play that song...DH hates it, but I catch him humming it without even realizing it!

Yes, and the "Counting" is so dramatic! "COUNT-ing! COUNT-ing!"
They figured out a while back how to make the house sing without actually having to do whatever task is required. They found the little trip switches like in the rain spout and the mailbox, so they just push them over and over. We've had the L&L House for at least two years now, and I don't think I have ever put new batteries in it. It just keeps on going. I sometimes "forget" to change the batteries in toys, or take them out and it "broke".

This is cracking me up! My favorite is when they press the same button over and over so it sounds like a dj scratching a record. And I hate to admit it, but I love the one that starts out "It's bumper to bumper on the...". So JAZZY :D !

And this is why we put this toy out! The batteries finally died but it took a very long time.

    For us it's:

Counting, Counting, Counting is such fun!
Count with me, let's start with 'number one'
    1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, TEN!
Wasn't that the best, I'd LOVE to count again!

Joe was addicted to the prelude to this one and would turn that d@mn clock so often I thought I would lose my mind. The funniest part was that he acted so delighted and surprised every time it happened, that it was just entertaining enough to keep my sanity. I just happily sold this on Craigslist a few weeks ago. Thanks for the laugh, Kelly (and screw you at the same time....this will now be stuck in my head for the rest of the day! ).

I bought that *!&^ Laugh & Learn House at a garage sale a few weeks ago for 10 bucks!! I thought I was getting a deal because it was in perfect condition with all the pieces parts. HA! The joke's on me! The mom who sold it to me was probably laughing hysterically and dancing a jig that she got rid of the thing!!

    :D

You know what gets me about that one is, that the Rainbow Bridge (it's bumper to bumper on the Rainbow Bridge!) is what pets cross when they die! So the first time I heard it, I was like WTH?

I do have to say, that the L&L House is the one toy they have consistently played with for two years straight. Now they know how to turn it on and off, how to make it louder (yay!) switch it from talking to music, and which things trigger which songs.

Do you ever wonder if the Fisher Price voice/singing lady has a rivalry with the Leapfrog lady?

    I've wondered that myself!

I highly suggest a "battery-ectomy" for whatever toys annoy you. In medical terms, a fairly secretive removal of all batteries, especially during naptime. It does wonders for parents' sanity.

I no longer buy them toys that talk/sing/play music, etc. I have nervous system problems and noise is a major factor and it literally makes me dizzy and/or throws me into vertigo.

DH has an early meeting tomorrow am. I'm not feeling well and y'all just gave me a good idea..... since they are in bed now.... i'm going to go hide all the "noisy" toys that well meaning relatives have purchased. The last thing I need to hear all day tomorrow is that stupid counting caterpillar. DH insists they NEED it to learn to count. I asked him if that's how he learned to count? with an electronic toy? Most of us didn't have toys anywhere like this when we were kids.... and I'm pretty sure all of us can count to 10!

i really wanted to get them some little people toys, but apparently they all "talk" and have songs or noise effects, so I guess those won't be happening.

Take them out of the box and take the batteries out before you give it to them, they won't know the difference! The sets can be really hard to get out the box too, so with inpatient children, it's best to take it out of the packaging anyway. They do love the Little People sets, and have no idea some of them are supposed to make noise.

:rotflmbo: I just imagined them all West Side Story on themselves!

Personally I like the Fisher Price lady better... the one leapfrog toy we have has a really annoying voice and she is kind of demanding ("Lets sing Mommy!" I don't want to sing!!!).

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh - you are bringing make horrible memories for me!! i convinced the kids about 6 months ago that a friend's baby needed this and a few other of their toys. however, cameron is STILL (after over 2 years) in love with the leap frog learning drum - i swear i am going to throw that out the window one of these days. and the kicker is that - after 2 + years, the batteries STILL haven't died. oh - the other one that drives me insane is the dora mp3 player - they each have one, and play them at the same time, so you have the battle of the songs - :help:

We have one of each of these and they're all evil! Gosh I'm glad we're not the only ones slowly going insane. I'm sure we will be singing these tunes well into old age.
