How many teeth have your 5 year olds lost?

When people see all the teeth my girls have lost they often get wide eyed and ask, "Is that normal?" The dentist has assured me that they are fine, although about a year ahead of most kids their age. Sarah has lost 8 (4 on the top and bottom) and Allison has lost 7 with another loose. They lost their first tooth when they were 4 and it's just been one tooth after the other since then. So I'm curious if they actually are in the minority. How many have your kids lost or did lose by age 5?

Lennon hadn't lost any at age 5. He finally lost his 1st (and 2nd about a month later) in February when he was 6 years 7 months old!

My two were 6 in February. Nolan lost one in September, but it was knocked out early when he fell from the swing set. Meghan hasn't lost any.

At or before 5, none of my kids have lost any teeth (footnote the littlest just turned 5 so who knows what this year holds). At 7 William has lost one and has one on the verge of coming out with 2 obviously wiggly top teeth as well. Nathan has lost none but has 2 wiggly ones on the bottom, but they are not super wiggly. He really wants that first visit from the tooth fairy.

One Dd has lost two in the past month, other DD has lost none as is not even close. They are 5y 7m

Dentist said as a rule of thumb, the early they get teeth- the earlier they lose them. Generally between ages 5 & 6----bust some kids as early as 4 or as late as 7

per X-rays: One DD is a bit early ( can see several adult teeth ready to emerge along with the two she has) and other is really really late (could not do full mouth due to adult teeth too far down in jaw still)

My two are 5 and have not lost any teeth yet. At our last dental appt. we were told Trevor has the very beginnings of a loose tooth, but it could still take a year to fall out (you can't wiggle it with your fingers).

My oldest DD didn't lose any teeth until after she was 6 years old.

Mine hadn't lost any at 5.
They have only lost one each now and each has another loose at 6 years 8 months old.

Sofia is almost 6.5 and has yet to lose any. Ryan has lost 6 and has 2 more wiggly ones, he's my overachiever. [IMG]

Joy turned 6 in March and hasn't lost any. I don't think there are any wigglers either. The twins lost a ton in Kindergarten, so they had just turned 6. That was the year we went broke financing the tooth fairy!

Rachel will be 7 next month and has still only lost two. I do think there is a very wide range of normal. :unknw:

Peyton has lost 1 and she will be 6 in August. They say the later they get their first teeth as babies, the later the teeth fall out. Just curious, if this is accurate. Rachel, at what age did the girls get their first tooth?

Yep, we've paid more money out this year to the tooth fairy then I care to think about.

I had to get out their baby book but in there it looks as though they both had 8 teeth by the time they were 1. I do remember their teeth coming in two at a time and the first two came in right at 6 months. Their first and second molars were out about a month after they turned one and two and Sarah already has two of her six year old molars and Allison has one with another coming in.

I know it's just teeth, but I'm terrified if they are losing teeth this early that other things might come early too. I just don't want them growing up so darn fast.

My kids didn't have their first teeth until about 11 months.

Our dentist also said that because they are smaller, their bones are smaller, their teeth are coming in slower.

Aaron lost 2 teeth while he was 5 and then two more when he turned 6. That is all he has lost so far.

My oldest DD got her first 4 teeth at 4 months. And she didn't lose her first tooth until right after she turned 6.

At 5, Elizabeth had lost 2 teeth and Grace had not lost any. Today, we are two weeks away from their 6th birthday and Elizabeth has lost 4 and Grace has lost 2. I have no idea when their teeth came in.

Mine were pretty average on getting their first teeth (I think they were both around 4 months, within a couple of weeks of each other) -- they're now 5.5 (exactly!) and haven't lost any yet. Amy keeps telling me she has a loose tooth, but when I say, "Oh, where?" she backtracks and says "Well, I thought maybe it was loose but it isn't." She is just impatient for the tooth fairy to start visiting us!

Neither twin lost any til after 5.5. E lost 2 at about that time. K lost 2 just a few weeks ago (they'll be six next month). My almost 7 yr old has lost 4 on bottom and has a wiggly top tooth right now. Your girls are overachievers! lol

Annie lost 2 teeth in the fall of kindergarten. She was 5 1/2.

Joey was 6 in March and hasn't lost any. According to the dentist, she's on the verge of some loose ones. Ellie, 5, also has not lost any. They both got their teeth late; they were over a year before a tooth showed up.
