how many potties?

My twins actually recieved a little potty as a birthday gift, but only one. I was reading today that you can set up the toddler potties in the bathrom (before they're ready for actually using them) just to get a feel of them & sit on them with clothes on.

So I'm just curious, when you have twins should you get 2 of the toddler potties? I know sometimes they don't want to use them & want to use the "big potty"...... but what if they do like the little ones, and they have to go at the same time?? I just think that if I put the little ones in the bathroom (they follow me in every time anyway) they'll just end up fighting over who gets to sit on it.

I just have one right now, but I only have one twin who seems sort of ready to maybe give sitting on the potty a try. I'm going to get it out this weekend.

I am going with one for now, but if the other twin starts showing some interest I may get a second one. But with the way mine are, the first one may be all trained and using the regular potty with a seat before the second twin starts potty training.

We have two potties and really need two. They frequently sit on them at the same time. Every time one of them sits on the big potty, they both want to, so I am sure they would fight over the potty seats too if we just had one.

I plan on having 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs...I am a big believer in having everything accessable when the time comes!!

    Good luck!!

We have two. However, they still fight over who gets to sit on WHICH potty. One is blue, one is white -- but I bet if they were both white, they'd fight over who got to sit on the one nearer the door, or whatever.

So, while it's helpful to have two potties, don't imagine that they won't fight over it! Still, I think it would be worse if we only had one. And when we get to the point where they are actually holding their pee and then having urgent needs to go potty, I certainly won't want to make one of them wait.

We have 2 potties and 2 potty rings. I got the baby bjorn potties, both red so that there in no fighting and one is in the downstairs bathroom and one is upstairs. Same with the rings, one down and one up. This way they can both always sit on something at the same time.

We skipped the potties and just have a toilet ring for each toilet in the house.

Thanks, everyone! I went ahead & got the potty out this morning; a little earlier than I had planned. But, this morning during breakfast dd started to kind of cry/fuss & when I asked her what was wrong she said, "Poo poo!" and tugged on her diaper. I kind of dismissed it, thinking she was just repeating words......but, when I got her down from the high chair a few minutes later, sure enough she had a poopy diaper!!

So I put the training potty in the bathroom (which I'm not impressed with & thinking of exchanging it). While ds had fun playing with it & sitting on it, dd wasn't much interested. I don't want to push anything, though.....I wasn't even thinking of potty training this early & don't want to push it.

I don't really like the design of the potty, though.....although it was a gift, I think it was purchased at Walmart so I might be able to return it. Do you have any recommendations on a kind you like?

PS - she seems to be taking after me......I called my mom this morning, just to brag & she told me I started potty training around 15 mos & was also before I had started walking.

We bought one, and the first night we had it they shared it. By "share" I mean "one sister sat on the potty happily reading and kicking her feet while the other sister cried hysterically and tried to pull her off." We bought a second potty the next day and now they delight in sitting on them, reading, pulling them all over the upstairs, pushing really hard and farting into them - everything but peeing or pooping. ;)
