How many ounces?

Just curious what other 5-6 week old babies were eating. We are feeding every 3 hours round the clock. Addison takes breast 100% of the time and Samantha does BM in a bottle 50% of the time. She is eating anywhere between 2-4 ounces each feeding. Usually she throws up if she eats around 4 ounces. It's frustrating because she is acting like she is hungry, she roots, wants nothing to do with the boob or a pacifier and only seems to want the bottle. Then after burping her several times during the bottle, she takes 4 ounces and then throws it all up (or at least looks like she does) about 15-20 mins later.

What are/did your babies eat around this time?

At around that age my boys were taking around 2 ozs. They did have reflux. But because they were early I think that's why they took so little.

Mine were taking anywhere from 2 to 4 ounces too when they were that age.

ok thanks! It seems like we are right on target then. I was wondering if we were doing too much or too little. But it sounds like it's just right for this age.

Mine are taking anywhere from 4-5 oz now- but a couple weeks ago it was around three- it varies because sometimes if they
go longer between feedings (like four or five hours) they chug it down and other times those buggers like to snack every hour and a half and
only will take 2 oz at a time! It's annoying- I wish it were more consistent, like clockwork, but it's a crazy time! I am there with you :)

My little ones are obviously big eats...my DD takes in anywhere from 3-5 now and my DS takes anywhere from 5-9....yikes!! I'm going to have some chubby babies on my hands!
DD spits up probably 3/4 of the time and DS spits up maybe once a day. And it's usually when I can't get them to burp after 10 minutes

Our pediatrician suggests that the babies eat no more than 1/2 their weight in ounces at each feeding. So my 11 pound baby boy (10 weeks) eats about 5.5 ounces each feeding.
