How many naps were your little one(s) taking at a year old? Olivia will be a year old on Monday and the past few weeks she has been dropping a nap. Sometimes the afternoon one and sometimes the morning one. This is REALLY screwing up her b-day party for Saturday b/c I scheduled it for noon (when she WAS napping) and now she's wanting to take a nap at noon for the past week or so. UGH, I'm so over the planning...whatever!

My twins took 2 (1.5-2 hour) naps until they were 18 months old.

Olivia (if she takes 2 naps) will take 2 one hour naps. If she takes one nap, sometimes it's only 1-1.5 hours. WTHeck???

I need her to take 2 naps...for my sanity and everyone elses. Just isn't working anymore. I put her down on "schedule" and she just sits in there and talks and talks and just "plays" (there isn't anything in her crib) until I finally come and get her. Sometimes (as long as she's not crying), I'll let her sit up there for up to an hour thinking she might zonk out, but NO!

My guys took 2 naps until 17 months pretty much without fail. Perhaps on her birthday party day, you can try to put her down around 10 or 1030 at least she'll get a little rest--and if she luckily falls asleep wake her when the guests start arriving....
    Best of luck

My two were still taking 2 short naps during the day at about 15 months they consolidated them into one from 10:30 - 12:15ish.

We dropped to one nap when the boys turned 1 year. Josh would talk the entire time for their a.m. nap and Jake would not sleep very long for the p.m. nap.

I now put them down at 11:30 and they sleep anywhere from 2 1/2 -3 hours.

You might want to up the a.m. nap by 1/2 hour. So if you usually put her down at 10:00, try 10:30. Hopefully by then she'll be tired and nap.

We had a hard time at our party because it fell directly when the boys usually take their 2nd nap  But, we're still on two, usually 10am-Noon & 2pm-4pm. I usually try to work my day around that, but sometimes one of those naps fall through.. what can ya do!

All of mine took two naps until 18-20 months.

Is it possible to adjust her entire schedule? Can you change her bedtime and wake time (maybe later on both), so you can get her to take a good solid nap from, say, 1-4?

Good luck! It's so hard when they make any transition. I always feel like I've just gotten something down and working well, then poof! something else pops up that needs some tweeking!

Lola has only been taking one nap from 12:30-2:30 for about a month now. She prefers to take one long nap rather that two shorter.

See, that would be SO nice...however, she will only sleep for an hour to 1.5 hours even if she missed a nap. Her pooping is also another issue. She is pooping 4 times a day (not little ones either, 4 NORMAL big poops). She will NOT sleep through them and will NOT go to sleep unless she is changed and lately, all of those poops have been between 8-12 am. Any ideas on how to change her poop schedule? LOL!

My two were master nappers (2x/day) until around 12months, then they (well, mostly DS) decided he didn't want to take two naps anymore. I would put him to bed at around 1pm and he would fuss/play for an hour, then I would let him up. It was driving me crazy because I needed them to take two naps (I needed the break, and when he isn't sleeping then I am not getting a break!). But, I am happy to say that the last few days (they are 13months) they have gone back to 2 naps/day again. They are up around 6-7am and nap at 9am and 1pm (both naps are lasting anywhere from 1-2hrs, but usually about 1.5hrs each), and bedtimei s 530pm.

I have heard of this sleeplessness that hits around 12months, so maybe she is going through a phase and will go back to napping twice/day again soon??

I was going to say this same thing. I remember reading lots of posts like this in the first year forum awhile back, and the advice that was given said it's a phase around 12 mos, and their children went back to their normal schedule eventually. I made a mental note, since we have enough issues with naps as it is around here.

never heard of the 12 month sleeplessness until just now. Maybe that's it. Who knows. Today, she napped from 11-11:25 (not even something I consider a nap). She acted dead tired...rubbing her eyes and dozing off during her bottle) at 10:50, so I put her down and only got a 20-25 minute nap.

Then, I fed her a bottle at 2:30 and put her down...more playtime for her in her bed. UGH! Since she sucked down the 6 oz. Ihad just fed her, I heated up some more. She downed another 4 oz and put her back down at 3 pm thinking she was satisfied. Well, it's now 3:20 and she's just in there cooing and talking and kicking the side of her crib. Seriously, she is NOT tired and ONLY napped for 20-25 mintues this morning. This is going to drive me insane!

At age one mine were taking two naps. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. Fortunately, that lasted until they were 18 months.

Good luck as we are having nap issues as well! I have one napper-2 hours usually everyday. We ended up going to one nap because they were rather short. However-they never fought the nap. They went down beautifully all the time. Now....Oy. Nicholas I can count on easily 90 minutes-usually more. Anthony-if I get 30 minutes-I'm lucky! And he's TIRED too. Sometimes he falls asleep on me when we lay on the couch once I get him(because I can't stand the screaming!).

Of course the last few days he's slept 2.5 hours! HUH?!?!? I was smooth sailing with this whole twin thing...until this napping "issue" approached! Good luck!

I have to say-with my boys party-I had it for 1 which was when I put the boys down for their nap-and it worked out beautifully. They took a great nap, everyone got to eat, etc. and then the boys woke up and we did cake, etc...

Enjoy the party! And BTW-she has the best birthday ever! ;)

The twins were at 2 naps at this age. Although, they must have known something was in the air for their 4pm first birthday party because they took NONE!!!!

Evan just recently went UP to two naps. He used to take one LONG nap late morning to mid afternon. Now it is one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Try relaxing a little bit.. perhaps she is sensing your excitement!
