How many in the home stretch?

My cervix is closed up like Ft. Knox and it appears long. I've been experiencing menstrual like cramping, but it isn't changing my cervix at all so far. I just feel like I'm ready to have these babies. I'm tired and wore out, but I know I need to keep them in as long as possible.

My OB wants to see me make it to 36 weeks and that he would not let me pass 38 weeks, so at least I have an end in sight. That would mean I will have my babies no later that 7 weeks......YES!!! That's great news, we should have babies around February 1st then. It seems so far away, but right around the corner.

December 15th I'll be 31 weeks and this is how the rest of my pregnancy will go.....

    OB Visit w/ultrasound.......1 per week
    NST Visit.........................1 per week
    Ultrasound.......................1 every two weeks
:bump: With a schedule like this, time is sure to fly by. :bump:

This could change since anything can happen. At my last appointment my OB said he is worried about me developing pre-eclampsia, because I suffer from migraines, the migraines can mask pre-eclampsia symptoms.

Does this pretty much look like all of you who are in the home stretch?

Woooooooooooo.................whooooooooooooooo...................the end or should I say "the beginning" is in sight!! :itwins:

In terms of doctors' visits and testing, I'm just having an OB appt and an ultrasound every week. My OB does the ultrasounds himself and does sort of an informal BPP at each u/s, and every other week does a growth scan while he's at it. Next week I'll get the Group B Strep test as well. My previous OBs weren't going to let me go past 37 weeks (well, one of them did say 38.5 at the max for a vaginal delivery, 37.5 for a C-section), but the new OB hasn't set a firm deadline; he said around 38-39 weeks but I probably won't make it that far. I also have some possible early warning signs of pre-e (wrote about that in my 34w appt post) but a friend who had pre-e says I will probably deliver anyway before pre-e would get serious enough to force the issue.

Although my full due date of January 21st is still over a month away, the end is definitely in sight! People are constantly asking, "What's your due date again?" and it feels weird to say "January 21st" when they see how big I am and hear me talking about the babies come. ;) (My stock answer all along has been, "January 21st, but twins tend to come several weeks early, so they might be Christmas or New Year's babies.")

Unfortunately I can't comment on what my appointments are like at this time because I have been in the hospital for over a month now (tomorrow makes 5 weeks) due to a very short cervix and pre-term labor. I just wanted to congratulate you on making it this far!! I am so glad I hit the 32 week milestone yesterday and continue to take it day by day! The end will be here before we know it!

Congratulations on making it to 31 weeks! I know how you feel. I went on modified bed rest at 28 weeks and never imagined I'd make it to 36 weeks, but I started the 36th week today! I am really tired and so anxious to meet my babies but the longer they stay in the better. They've scheduled my c-section for 38 weeks, 1 day so we're definitely in the home stretch now. Both babies are breech, I have been at 1 cm for forever now and 50% effaced, but other than that no change at all. I have also had the cramping but it's not making a difference. We had our last growth scan on Friday and now it's just a weekly appt. with my ob. Hang in there and keep up the good work and the time will fly by.

I am 34 weeks and 4 days (34 wks 3 days if you ask the dr) today and things sure have changed drastically in these past 5 days! I was at 1cm 70% effaced since around 28 weeks up until when I went to l and d yesterday for unidentified leaking from the vagina. Well the vaginal leakage was increased discharge
(as if there wasnt enough already) but then it made since as I was now 3cm dilated! Then when they hooked me up the monitors I was having painless contractions (was having them since wed. but wasnt sure if they were to be of any concern). The blood pressure was up so they observed me from 3pm to 730 pm and I was having some painful contractions like i have never felt before by 6pm. I didnt have any changes in my cervix so they sent me home. My bpp went back down and my lab results showed no preecamplsia. they thought maybe the other bpp cuff wasnt the right fit. Anyway I went home in tremendous pain and tightening. By 2am the contractions stopped and I was able to sleep (minus the heartburn from the late tacobell run). Then this morning the cramps in the back came back and now I am contracting yet again. I was always questioning the contractions and cramping that i was feeling before but now I can tell the difference that is for sure! there is tightening in the whole uterus with pain and there is pressure in my bottom, if that makes since. it sure makes one go..hey thats definetly a contraction! And the doctor seemed to say that if they babies were born now they wouldnt stop them. they didnt give me any shots to make them go away. i guess they figure they will be in there little longer. I am hoping not as i am in pain with these contracttions and have been having back pain and cramping everyday since last wednesday. I am defiently ready to have them! They should be over 5.5lbs each according to the last ultrasound so that is comforting!
Thats my story as to how things have been going thus far!

I was glad to read your post Soon to be Mom of 4 and also glad to realize that somebody else cervix is closed up tight!! I out of the blue started having BHC at 28w and have increased my fluids since then, but i still am getting them more and more, but they seem to not be doing anything becuase it is still over 5cm long!!!!

I have been kinda wondering how other mommas were feeeling around now.. I had my lvl 2 u/s with the peri on friday and wont go back to see her for 3 more weeks, I see my regular ob in a week, and she is giving me my pre-registration packet for the hospital.. Im curious too see how the last few weeks play out..I plan on asking her then... The peri said 37 weeks, and I hope that my ob will let me keep that date too.. I really don't want to go to 38 for some reason.. probably because I want to have them here sooner then later :D My baby B keeps flipping, currently breech but 2 weeks ago was head down) and my dr wont delivery if one of them is breach.. So Im curious to when if my ob will decide if I will have a c/s

I have to admit, I don't really want to go to 38 weeks, either. I mean, if the babies really needed it, cool. but my sis will be here when I'm 36w0d (christmas Eve) to 37w4d and I'd love it if she's here when they're born. Right around 37w would be great by me.

I'm 33 weeks and definitely feel like I'm in the home stretch. My Dr. hasn't done any internals yet, so I have no idea about dilation and effacement. I'm having BPP, and NST weekly and seeing my OB weekly as well.

While I am so uncomfy and really ready to get these boys out, I really do hope to make it to 38 weeks. The hospital with a NICU is a solid hour away from us and I just want to bring the babies home with me. It just seems like the longer I keep them cooking the more likely that will happen.

I'm so surprised how much harder this pregnancy has been than my singleton. If I stand up for more than about 15 minutes, I loose feeling in my right leg. I can hardly roll over in bed, and getting up off of my low couch causes my family to get the giggles.

My C-section is scheduled for Jan 18. One of my boys is breech and my Dr wont do a vaginal delivery unless they are both vertex. I really, really don't want a C-section but since he's been breech the whole time I'm not holding onto a lot of hope. The only bright spot is that my Dr promised that he would put my poor stomach muscles back where they go. They have separated sooooo much.

I totally understand; throughout pregnancy I've always felt a little longing when I'd see people who were a few weeks ahead of me. :) I am amazed that I'm now a 34-week graduate! Getting SO curious to see how long I'll really last and when our boys will arrive!

too funny! you bet it does! trust me 34 weeks is not what its cracked up to be! I can only imagine 37-38 weekers feel worse! Ever since I turned 32 weeks it was down hill from there! but i know it will be worth it when its all said and done! it feels like forever from now (perhaps its because my body is so close to being in full labor i can taste it! :p :p )

Congratulations for making it to 33 weeks +! I'm with you, I'm hoping I make it over 35 weeks, otherwise I will have to deliver in San Francisco (about 45 minutes away). I have to hold out for another 4 weeks, I think I can do it.

I hear what you're saying about how hard this pregnancy is. I know how you feel, no matter what you do, it hurts!!! :( But, there is an end in sight for us.

You still have a chance for the babies to turn. At least your Dr is cool enough to make sure to put your stomach muscles back!!! :woohoo: My OB said both babies have to be head down for a vaginal delivery. At my last appointment, both my babies were head down...YAY! I hope they stay that way!

That is funny! :) Ours are di-di, so there's something like a 1 in 9 chance they are ID; I'm thinking if they look ID we'll end up doing the genetic testing, but I'm assuming they're frat. Things are progressing OK for me. Last week I went downhill fast and am now on modified bedrest (the OB said I can do a little more if I feel like it, but I just can't really walk around much w/o triggering contractions, can't sit in a normal chair w/o my legs going numb after a few minutes, etc.) Last night was a rough night; couldn't fall asleep till after 5 and then haven't been able to fall back to sleep after waking up around 8:30 to pee! just had a snack and am hoping I'll be able to go back to sleep for a few hours or I'll be a wreck when my company comes by this afternoon! How about you?

I am just 36 weeks and am closed up tight too. I have weekly visits now to the ob. I do get an ultrasound on Thursday to see how the boys are growing. I am ready to be done, but I am not having any type of signs that says things are progressing unless you count the aches and pains with each step!

Mine are definitely frat (boy girl twins), so I'm not being monitored too stringently. I've had a easy twin pregnancy so far, but I'm getting big, and pretty uncomfortable. The other day a cashier asked when I was due, and when I said Feb. 10, the look on her face was a combination of shock and horror. My DH then told her that we were having twins, and she looked so relieved. I guess I look pretty big.

Hey all! Just an update on me and the babies. I am 35 weeks and 1 day today and washaving PAINFUL contractions yesterday from 2pm till 12am. They were lasting 7 mins, then 5 mins, then 2-3 mins then they stopped for 20 mins came back at 4 mins apart then stopped at midnight/1am. Couldnt sleep at all. Finally fell asleep around 3am woke up at 6 am with back pains from hell. Had several contractions not as strong as yesterdays. Some mucas (sorry if tmi) came out but not the plug. I was 3cm last Saturday and have been having contractions on and off since. But yesterday was the worse. As soon as I put jeans on to go into l and d they decided to relax a little. I am sooo frustrated and in pain and soooo tired that I can not imagine going through REAL labor since that was "fake:. I have a NST scan today and I hope something will happen! I am sooo done with this whole pregnancy thing!

Hang in there, you're so close now. All the busy-ness may bring your contractions on even stronger. Best wishes and happy holidays to you and your family! :D

Not long now, Dallasm! What deadline has your OB given you; what's the longest they'll let you go?
