Mine are still eating every three hours. Except nighttime they go at least 8 hrs and then we wake them to feed them so we can get ready for work. Then we lay them back down.
Parker eats 5 oz w/3 tsp of cereal and Sydney eats 4 oz w/3tsp of cereal.
We don't really wait for them to get hungry.
The times(in the past) we have waited and stretched the time they seemed hungrier earlier on the next feed, so we haven't tried stretching it lately.
EVERYONE keeps saying, "they are STILL eating every three hours!!!"
Should we be working on increasing their ounces and increasing the time between feedings?
If so, how did you do that??
Should I wait until their four month check up when the Dr says we will talk about starting on solids???
    ~~
Also if you could share your schedules at this age.
    Thank you in advance!!!

When the girls were around 8 weeks old they went from eating every 3 hours to every 3.5-4 hours, but unlike your kiddos, the ladies were on this schedule *around the clock*. Now they are more consistently eating every 4 hours and as I just posted in another thread, just started sleeping for longer stretches at night (6 hours instead of 4). Hopefully this isn't a fluke :)

If mine were sleeping at night and eating every 3 hours during the day, I would choose that over eating every 4 hours around the clock, but that is just my opinion after 4 months of not sleeping more than 3 hours at a time :)

    Good luck! -Leighann

Mine go every 3 hours still during the day and mine are going on 5 months! They sleep through the night though.
And I get the comments all the time. But I don't care!

They still dont' get solids and are getting breastmilk while I work during the day. They get about 5 oz every 3 hours and are happy so why change!

Mine were eating every 3 hours until they were 8 months! We have a TS'ers schedule sticky at the top of FY. Here.

I switched mine from 3 oz every 3 hrs to 4oz every 4 hrs at 7 wks old. Now they're taking 5 oz every 4 hrs. Their last bottle is at 9pm and they usually sleep until about 4-5 am, then they go back down for about 3 hrs after that. The three hour schedule wasn't working for us because I realized they needed more sleep than they were able to get on that schedule. Now that they have more time in between feedings they can take longer naps during the day - and they sleep better at night!

I really think you have to follow their lead. Do you only give them that much in their bottles, or is that all they want? Mine went to a 4 hour schedule really early ... but my son also eats 8oz bottles ... my daughter eats about 5oz ...sometimes more, sometimes less. He never leaves a drop in his bottle. haha ... my ped told me that the bottle should never be empty. If your kids are always finishing their formula, then maybe they are only eating what you give them, maybe they would eat more if it was available. If that's not the case, then they are probably taking what they need. I'm not sure how you stretch the time. Maybe just try to push it to 3.5 hours by playing with them when they start to get fussy ... then they'll eat more at the next feeding and wait longer for the next one, etc.
